Don't you think that the United States would be obligated to side with Israel in this matter even if there were no possibility that such attacks could occur on American soil? Be careful with the "war-loving" label. Why would people who keep loosing wars love them? There could be a strong case made that the U.S. is a "war-loving" nation (we usually win and just look at most of our war movies). Also, we have the most effective and massive war machine in the history of civilization - we are the war leader of mankind; the world is trying to follow our example.

No matter what anyone says about the spirit of Islam we have to deal with what it has become. Perception is one thing, reality is another. Has history known a greater silence than that of "peaceful Islam" since 9-11? Whatever it might have been, what it is is dangerous and poses a threat to all of the non-Muslim world. We need to recognize it for what it is and take the necessary steps to prevent it from harming us. Philosophical repose has no place in a world of broken bodies and lives.
