To cut straight through all the crap, the reasons the fundi-muslims love war is because they hate their own miserable, unproductive lives, and they hate everyone else, especially the Israelis, for loving their own lives enough to do something useful with them.
Israelis, like Americans, are doers. We are productive with our lives. We make the world a better, more efficient place. We build buildings, create products that make other people's lives easier, create jobs, write books and music. How then do you expect a bunch of losers who think the world "owes" them anything, to feel when faced in such close proximity with a superior culture.
Yes, it's true. The Jews have a superior culture. We Americans have a superior culture. The muslims had a brief golden age, but the more fundamental islamicists threw it all away early on in their history, choosing instead to adhere to the more reactionary dogmas of their religion and devolving into a culture which, tho' it may function well in preserving small groups of nomads in the sterile and hostile sands of the arabian desert, has been tragically left behind by the civilized world.
Having been so infamously outperformed in the human arena, the fundi-muslims, unable to cope in the modern world, and too proud to admit that their hard won survival skills have little use in this world except as berserker/warriors, are choosing to stick with the latter.
Fundi-islam is committing suicide by cop. Israel and the U.S. are the only nations, both capable and willing to carry out that function.

Isn't our culture somewhat unique since it is comprised of elements of all the world's cultures?

Can't do that. The media may be providing incorrect and/or incomplete information but they can not make a final decision. The O.J. jury clearly made a final (and incorrect) decision.
All I can add is that the while the jihadists have no real understanding of the west, their bluster about putting infidels to the sword tells us a lot about what they fear and respect.
They can be kept at bay by a superior civilization that is willing to speak to them in their own language of armed force.
