Carville Fumes at White House Correspondence Dinner Joke
Top Clinton strategist and CNN "Crossfire" cohost James Carville appeared visibly angry Saturday night when comedian Drew Carey entertained the crowd at the annual White House Correspondence Dinner by poking fun at the Democrat's 2000 presidential election loss.
Comparing disgruntled Democrats to Arabs who remain unconvinced that Osama bin Laden was responsible for the 9-11 attacks, Carey told the crowd:
"You know, those Arabs out there, they're not gonna believe anything you do. They don't believe the other tapes we got of Osama bin Laden. They all say it's fake."
Then Carey added, "Isn't that annoying. You get these tapes, here's Osama and they go, 'No, you faked it. The United States faked it.' It's like trying to convince the Democrats they really lost the election."
As the crowd roared, C-Span cameras zeroed in on Washington power couple James Carville and Mary Matalin. While Matalin threw her head back in hearty laughter, a scowling Carville looked steamed and finally erupted with a verbal outburst that C-Span microphones did not pick up.
Carey seemed to take notice of Carville's reaction and began to rub it in:
"He won. They lost. That's what happened. There was no theft or rigging or none of that crap. He won! You lost!"

I don't think that what you said earlier was a conditional statement on its face, but I believe you if you say that it was intended as such.
Since you asked, I do actually favor such half-measures. I think decriminalization of certain drugs is a policy option that we as a nation should entertain presently. Legalization of some of those drugs might also be an option to consider in the future, but only after certain things happen which would mute some of the dangers drug legalization poses society now.
"I can't favor freedom because our rulers are statist" isn't much of an argument after all . .
I do agree that that isn't much of an argument. Thank goodness I didn't make it.
For one, I never equated drug use with "freedom," nor did I ascribe the fears I have of a nationalized health care system as stemming from our rulers alone. I think terms like freedom and liberty are inapposite when used to describe the "right" to do drugs. License is probably a better term.

mr carville looked so VILE! Loved seeing how upset he was! Humourless SOB! And he has made a hefty living outta makin' fun of Repubbies! He simply CANNOT take it! James, you're a real loserman, livin' in your loserland... & the neat thing to observe is that mr carville dunt have a sense of humor UNLESS it's at the expense of others.

Carey's best line to me was when he talked about how difficult it was to stand at the inaugural parade in the rain for more than 2 hours--- then he said something like - come to think of it, it could have been worse, it could have been an Al Gore parade !!! They didn't show Carville after than - but you gotta know he knew what was coming next - and Carey gave it to him...good for Carey!!!

What are they going to do, shout slogans at us! :D In the words of a 60's Limelighters song, they'll be
"chalkin' slogans on the gate".

Great. Thanks. I will keep my eyes open and pay attention.

I didn't make it.
I never equated drug use with "freedom," You implicitly made the argument, but you didn't realize it because, as you have now shown, you have an erroneous concept of liberty.

Then Carey added, "Isn't that annoying. You get these tapes, here's Osama and they go, 'No, you faked it. The United States faked it.' It's like trying to convince the Democrats they really lost the election." ROTFLMAO!!!!! & Carville can't take it!

While I think James Carville looks like 'Mr. Clean', I always think of him as 'Mr. Mean'. I enjoyed seeing him get so mad.

That's why they call me "duh"! Obviously, I can't read numbers and I forgot to see if my chad was hanging. No matter, next time I vote, I'll be touchin' the screen and STYLIN'.

Perhaps you could post your own Syllabus of Errors for the benefit of all of those on FR (including apparently me) who subscribe to this "erroneous" idea of liberty? Frankly, I would be interested to read either your own work or someone else's which makes an argument, based on legal, historical, or philosophical materials, that citizens have any 'right' or 'liberty' to use drugs.

Sorry to disappoint, but if you're gunning for Puritans, then you're barking up the wrong tree, buddy. LOL! No problem. There surely ain't no shortage of them around FR!

I don't know how Mary can stand this guy. Loved the post!
To: truthkeeper
I don't know how Mary can stand this guyI've always had questions about Mary and her own seeming lack of self-worth and self-respect.

I heartily agree-we watched the Clinton 2000 Wash Correspondents dinner too. I HAD to switch it off, may have been the General Tso's I enjoyed for dinner...but my stomach was churning!
UGH-Pure Clinton, all ABOUT CLINTON!
To: Paul Atreides
When I see or think of Carville, I am reminded of those southern *porkers* in the movie Deliverance!
He gives me the willies, goosebumps and the shivers.
To: Marine Inspector
Factoid: Drew Carey is a Marine.I promise not to hold that against him. But it does explain his warped sense of humor.
