Carville Fumes at White House Correspondence Dinner Joke

Top Clinton strategist and CNN "Crossfire" cohost James Carville appeared visibly angry Saturday night when comedian Drew Carey entertained the crowd at the annual White House Correspondence Dinner by poking fun at the Democrat's 2000 presidential election loss.

Comparing disgruntled Democrats to Arabs who remain unconvinced that Osama bin Laden was responsible for the 9-11 attacks, Carey told the crowd:

"You know, those Arabs out there, they're not gonna believe anything you do. They don't believe the other tapes we got of Osama bin Laden. They all say it's fake."

Then Carey added, "Isn't that annoying. You get these tapes, here's Osama and they go, 'No, you faked it. The United States faked it.' It's like trying to convince the Democrats they really lost the election."

As the crowd roared, C-Span cameras zeroed in on Washington power couple James Carville and Mary Matalin. While Matalin threw her head back in hearty laughter, a scowling Carville looked steamed and finally erupted with a verbal outburst that C-Span microphones did not pick up.

Carey seemed to take notice of Carville's reaction and began to rub it in:

"He won. They lost. That's what happened. There was no theft or rigging or none of that crap. He won! You lost!"

He's a drinking buddy for sure.

He is also a registered Libertarian, according to the LP Party newsletter. Of course, that was from a couple of years ago, so he might have switched to Republican by now, as I have.

He also is/was a Mac user, ask Mimi.

But what I REALLY like is when you do a Google search for Drew Carey&Rush you find quotes like this:

"This show jumped when Drew had Rush Limbaugh make a guest appearance. I could no longer watch the show knowing that Drew probably held the same crazy right wing views as that gas bag. Just the thought of Drew hunched over the radio yelling "your right Rush" sickens me."

I love it.

O'Reilly interview Carey a few months back on his show, I remember Carey saying he was a conservative libertarian but more conservative in his beliefs.

Great post! Fabulous thread! Thanks.

I remember reading about some book Drew Carey wrote. Tried to get it at the library. Was told they don't stock books with that kind of language! LOL. Didn't know it was supposed to have "that kind of language". But considering that the librarians demand that kiddies have access to puter porn.....well. Just didn't make sense.

That sounds about right to me. The LP gets a lot of common-sense conservatives to convert, then makes a big deal out of it in their newsletter -- good PR for them. They featured Clint Eastwood some time back as a new convert, but my guess is that both Drew and Clint voted for Bush, not Harry Browne.

I always thought Carey was a big Conservative, he had Rush on his show and he ends it with a sonogram of a baby in the womb showing life...

One big reason Drew probably won't stay with the LP for long. One thing that caused me to leave the LP was hearing this 'abortion rights' crap from the LP leaders at the local chapter.

jeez, Drew, sounds like you're one of us!

Try Norm McDonald on for size.

A little class and FReeping in between the "Ladies" visit to the Hefner mansion or something.

Kudoes to Drew Carey for illustrating the truth with humor. I know no more effective means of doing so.

But I hope he hires some extra bodyguards...I'm not joking. With Carville, he could end up on the bottom of a bayou.

Carville is pure evil...the only person in this country lower and slimier than the Clintons.

Regards...EV

Yeah but Carey's from Cleveland, about even I'd say and maybe a slight advantage to Carey depending on what neighborhood he's from.

I know there are some libertarian ideas that I support but it's what else is in their agenda that keeps me a Republican. Personally I know of many people who are clearly Libertarian based in their political views, but who wouldn't vote for Harry Brown if their life depended on it, especially after his comments after 9-11. Nice to know though that there are some people in Hollywood who are not died in the wool leftists.

Sorry I missed it. I was watching "I, Claudius." Maybe this will be posted somewhere for download?

Great Show, is it running somewhere I might be able to see it? (I am in Florida). Are they running the entire series? CSPAN usually reruns these things, maybe someone has the schedule available for this?

Starr salvaged the Clinton presidency with his sham "investigation". Thanks for letting me know about Carey's book. I'll find it and buy it. Now, if he had actually stepped on Ken's head, I would like him even more.

This is a guy who wrote a book mocking and smearing Ken Starr and had a picture of himself on the back cover stepping on Starr's head.

Excellent! I'm glad SOMEBODY did this. Starr was on the take from day 1. Have any idea what the name of the book is?

This is from another article ... a joke told by Bush:

New York Sen. Hillary Clinton (news - web sites) was also the object of Bush's humor when he showed a photograph of himself with a woman dressed in full-length blue burka and said it was the former first lady.

I'm willing to forgive the occasional trip to the strip club,

That's awful big of you. Can he stay out until midnight too,or would you send the police after him if he did this?

L.N. Smithee was referring to Carville's book, not Carey's. :)

Carville is frustrated because the 'crats are impotent so far with Bush pulling a Clinton by co-opting all of their issues.

But where does this leave Conservatives except with a RINO in the WH ??

BUMP
