Hillary Demands 'Immediate' Answers on Bush 9-11 Heads Up

In the clearest sign yet that Democrats intend to make political hay over the news that President Bush received a pre-9-11 CIA warning about possible al Qaeda airline hijackings, New York Sen. Hillary Clinton suggested Thursday that it was time for the White House to come clean.

"Clearly the public demands answers immediately," she told reporters, adding, "The people of New York deserve those answers more than anyone."

Clinton complained that the Bush administration had taken over eight months reveal the CIA briefing, and advised that the Bush administration should release all relevant information without further delay.

"I believe that getting the facts out would be the very best response to this troubling news," she urged.

Mrs. Clinton wasn't asked about claims from former officials of her husband's administration who have told reporters that he ignored repeated warnings of al Qaeda terrorist activity against the U.S., including a 1995 plot to hijack a dozen airliners and crash them into U.S. office buildings. There were people in the Nat Guard that were called up on the Saturday before 9-11. Why? This whole things really stinks. No reson why those planes were not scrambled in the amount of time. Remember the golfer, Payne Steward's plane. They were there in a heartbeat? Again, sometime isn't right in Washington DC. It is inexcusable for the President to not have told us this prior, to have to have his hand forced by investigators, in order to attempt some damage control, all the while he has been miling the 9/11 tragedy for his own and the GOP's benefits.

Your recollection is faulty. Travel warnings *were* broadcast two or three days before 9/11. As broadcast, the warnings were directed to Americans at home and abroad. NOBODY had any information that aircraft were going to be flown into office buildings. If you have proof of such information, I'm certain that Rep. McKinney would reward you handsomely.

You government (and Bush) apologists ought to be ashamed of yourselves. If the administration doesn't step up to the plate on this one they will get smashed in 02 and 04.

The "new tone" has served only to revise or ignore the crimes of the clinton administration.
Mrs. Clinton should be too busy planning her legal defense to be shooting her mouth off about Bush "coming clean".
Instead, the pass she and BJ got has only emboldened them. They will NEVER go away voluntarily.

I would ask Hil how much of the FBI and CIA were left-overs from the Clinton administration in that it would seem that these career spooks should have been the ones that put two and two together. And how well manned were these staffs.

You should ask how many career spooks had been forced into early retirement by downsizing and reorganizations and attempts to get rid of people on the old Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS), and what effect this all had on morale and effectiveness.
