Chandra: Conspiracy or incompetence? Did the DC police, or anyone, use cadaver dogs?

Posted on 05/23/2002 4:49:57 AM PDT by ken5050

In watching the media coverage of the discovery of Chandra's remains yesterday, much was made of the inensice grid search of the area last year by the DC police cadets. It is very easy, in a heavily wooded area, to overlook anything, even a body, if it is buried in the earth, and then covered with brush. However, that would not deter a cadaver dog. These animals can detect small pieces of decomposing flesh, so an entire body would have been an easy find for a trained animal. So, this begs the question. Were cadaver dogs used in the search?

Another specuation.. She went jogging to burn off nervous energy, something captures her attention up in the woods (a turtle perhaps) and while exploring something happens. end speculation.

According to the parent's attourney last night on Hannity & Colmes, Chandra was not a usual jogger at all...Plus the ddistance was 8 miles from her home that she would have jogged which is VERY UNLIKELY for a non jogger to accomplish .. Also, keep in mind that her bags were packed and she was ready to leave. Who goes jogging before leaving town with their bags packed at home ??? He also mentioned that the dogs that were used to search for, lost her sent at the curb of her apt building, which leads them to believe it is possible that she was met at the curb and driven from there. My suspicion is that she was met possibly to go on a motorcycle ride ( reason for no purse etc)..or bike ride....You don't take those things when on a bike..

You know, maybe the National Enquirer got to the "Turtle Man", who found Chandra's remains, and he can make a cool $100,000 for an exclusive story? Maybe that's why we haven't heard from him?

And maybe, Condit had someone else kill Chandra who either forgot to get the watch or is holding it as "blackmail" to make sure Condit keeps his mouth shut.

I just love a mystery!

Geraldo made an excellent point last night, that 'famous, powerful men use a facilitator to meet with and to break up with their girlfriends'.

That's an interesting point. Maybe the "facilitator" got a little too enthusiastic when Chandra wouldn't agree to the break-up.

Which would mean Dominick Dunne might very well be right about the biker aspect of this. Yes, she probably did not jog all the way to that spot, she wasn't into jogging, only working out at the exercise club. She was picked up at the curb.

Thanks for the info on the dogs..it just seems so strange....they could have brought dogs in for a couple of days, swept the whole area....something doesn't seem right here..

It's pretty inconceivable that this part of the park would not have been searched, since it is very near the mansion for which Chandra had done the map quest search on her computer. Conspiracy or incompetence?

Anything is possible here! Like you, I enjoy mysteries. I'm just sorry that this time it is at the expense of a talented young woman who had so much to live for. I went the perp FOUND!

Perhaps this ties in? http://www.condidit.com/index.php?board=6;action=display;threadid=4 (sorry, am ignorant of linking procedure) Also see reply #1 on this thread by "Doby".

Condit gave $10,000 to an aide in May 2001. Doby, in reply #1, speculates that Condit killed Levy in a fit of rage in the Rock Creek Park near the Klingle mansion, and that this aide helped him dispose of the body. Reply #1 is dated August 14, 2001. He nailed the park and mansion as being important to the investigation. I wonder how many other musings prove correct?

Kind of looks like the park was a prime candidate for the crime scene and -----should have been searched quite exhaustively, at the very least.

Gephart was probably one of the "guys" of the group that Condit wanted Levy to have group-sex with. Did she? Is that why so many of them are in this together? She could ID them, and THAT might have been her "big news" that she was going public with the story of the sex games/parties on the Hill. (MY speculation.)

It's an 8 mile jog from Chandra's apt to the place where she was found.

16 mile jog, roundtrip. Maybe she didn't jog.

Interesting post!

Would this be the same aid who went with him when he tried to dump the watch box?

Being very far off the path and then being buried seems more pre meditated.

Yes, but premeditated does not mean preselected. A serial killer can decide where he will bury the body of his next victim before he even finds her. (This appears to be the case with the Green River Killer.) He could then wait until the next person meeting his profile was vulnerable, kill the person, and drag the body to the preselected site.

Still, when you consider that she would probably be abducted from a jogging path, it seems like a long way to drag a body.

I believe it has already been admitted that no points on north of the Mansion, closer to the Maryland line, nor west of the Creek up into the Brandywine area, were ever searched whether by people or by dogs.

How do you know this?

This body was brought by vehicle on the Broad Branch Rd at the top of the bluff, and brought/dragged down until the incline starts getting really steep, and there buried in a shallow earth grave.

Makes more sense than a serial killer dragged her body from a jogging path.

What terrified him about the Watch must have been, NOT that it was on the body or near it, BUT that HE DIDN'T KNOW WHERE IT WAS, it had come off, gone awol, lost in the fracas, and probably at some site that was his or related to him, where its finding would be highly incriminating to him, probably the place of the killing.

Good point, but Condit could have been hoping to keep the lid on the affair. Obviously, it was something she had. BTW, if the watch was not on the body ... then she may have been killed elsewhere.

Greta V.S. said that she could SEE the place where they found the body from her house, less than 100 yards. Perhaps they went in on the road side?

Does anyone know of a map showing the location of the body and the nearest roads? It would also be helpful if the map shows any natural barriers or obstacles.

The body was found only 100 ft from the edge of the Broad Branch Road

Thank, crystalk. I think the body was in a car, she was carried from the road to the shallow grave. Now, that should happen after dark.

I thought of that, too.

while I understand your Points, I have counter arguments.

Today they said the park made up 30% of DC, 30% is an awfully lot of ground to cover. They also said the park was 3Xs bigger then Central Park in NY,City. IF the body was buried on the side of a steep incline, Then covered with brush then how could anyone find it. (Please also note.. that part of the park, so far as I heard was searched by foot.. not by Dog)If it was coverd by Dogs, Could wind play a part in that at all? (question as I don't know) Why haven't the dog's picked up her scent at all to get to that spot?

They also gave Scenarios this Morning that Lots of homeless people lived around their and there could have been all sorts of orders there. They also said for the amount of people that walk in a park, Homeless, Kids, joggers ect that it still took a year to find her.

As far as the website on her Computer Could be she wanted to A) Explore new areas. Perhaps she wasn't sure of direction of the mansion? B) where there any emails found on her computer as to who of IF she was meeting anyone? C) If it was a "HIT" I'm more apt to believe they would have never found her. D) IF the body was moved at that location after her killing, why bring all her belongs there and dump/and or bury them with her? It would be leaving around More Evidence. If the counter argument you give for that is.. Well to make us think she was killed by a serial killer.. or just a mugger ect.. to throw us off so to say.. Why not strip her down and leave Nothing. Please also note that she wasn't robbed as her ring and walk-man were both found at the scene.

Its much to sloppy to be a hit of any sort IMO. It would be safer for the perpetrator to play like Jimmy Hoffa and have her always Missing.

If it was a random rape/killing this type of disposing of the body would coincide.

I also have questions as to if she was dating or seeing any other people? She was young and single. Anyway.. those are just my Speculation. I suppose we will all have to stay tuned and wait for more evidence to be revealed!!

God bless

I am absolutely certain (98%) that she was killed elsewhere, and the body only brought here after her death, possibly in hours, but just as possibly in weeks or even months, after her death.
