Chandra: Conspiracy or incompetence? Did the DC police, or anyone, use cadaver dogs?

Posted on 05/23/2002 4:49:57 AM PDT by ken5050

In watching the media coverage of the discovery of Chandra's remains yesterday, much was made of the inensice grid search of the area last year by the DC police cadets. It is very easy, in a heavily wooded area, to overlook anything, even a body, if it is buried in the earth, and then covered with brush. However, that would not deter a cadaver dog. These animals can detect small pieces of decomposing flesh, so an entire body would have been an easy find for a trained animal. So, this begs the question. Were cadaver dogs used in the search?

The body was found only 100 ft from the edge of the Broad Branch Road, and less than 100 yrds from the nearest private home lot. Many diplomatic and other official residences in that area, and congresspeople living there. Murder could have occurred in those houses, then dumped in the blufftop thicket in edge of park across road.

Thanks Chandra for reminding me why I shouldn't go hiking-or jogging- without a gun.

I think that the body was moved there, but perhaps months ago, before all of the soft tissue had decayed. It just took longer than expected to be discovered. I cannot believe that it was there when the search was conducted. The killers did not want the body discovered at that time, and no one could count on even the D.C. police being THAT incomptent.

If the body were moved when it was just a skeleton, I cannot imagine that you could "lay out" the body in any pattern that would make anatomical sense. It would have to be detectable by someone who knows anatomy that, even given the facts that animals could have moved some bones, the ones which are supposedly undisturbed are in the wrong place (such as the vertabrae are in the wrong order).

Can't you just see some guy in the dead of night with a numbered drawing and little sticky tapes on each bone saying "No. 32 goes above No. 34.....wait, where's No 33? "

I also think that the walkman should show signs of how long it has been left out in the elements. Although it wouldn't necessarily tell you that it had been left out in the elements THERE. But a pristine or little damaged, workable Walkman would certainly be very telling.

Satellite images were used to obtain a search warrant for a man with dead racing dogs on his property. (just saw this on another thread)

I'm wondering if anything like this was done in an effort to find Chandra.

we have been let know that Condit and Chandra were having an affair...

True, true, but of course when Condit ditched the box, he was still publicly denying or at least not admitting an affair.

Personally, I think that Condit is being blackmailed by someone. The body being found, is a warning. That is my speculation.

My husband and I agree and have thought this since last summer. He said this morning that he thinks Condit is going to be found having "committed suicide" at some point. I think Condit himself is pretty much in danger at this point. His usefulness is ended, as he is no longer on his House committees.

Has anyone mentioned the fact that her signet ring with a diamond was at the site? Had it been a rape/robbery, wouldn't the perp have taken it? No mention of her keys being found, which she supposedly took with her. Why would a killer take her keys and not her ring?

If I remember correctly, Condit himself mentioned the train trip during one of his interviews, maybe even the one with Connie Chung? If I'm wrong, someone please correct me.

The National Enquirer article from March of this year said that the murderer or his/her crony entered her apartment and tidied things up. They would have needed her keys for that. So, I would guess they were disposed of long ago, unless someone is keeping them to nail someone for Levy's murder.

As despicable a person Gephardt is, I think you have been reading too much conspiracy crap.

I don't think Gephardt is involved with this either. However, I think it was strange how he put Condit on the committee. If you remember, Gephardt had made some rather negative comments about Condit in public, finally, and then all of a sudden seemed to get very quiet and then put him on this commmittee. My guess is that someone wanted Condit on the intelligence watch and whoever that is made his/her wishes known to Gephardt.

But how common is for the jogger to have looked at Web sites specifically about an area immmediately before being randomly snached and murdered there?

And another thing is bothering me. Why wouldn't the police use infrared from a helicopter? (Is that what's used to search for bodies?) It would have been so easy to search over that park by air. They knew enough to search there on foot, why not with infrared? Or maybe the tree cover was so extensive that it wouldn't have helped, I don't know though. Does anyone know?

The DC police are incompetant boobs. They are political, which means they are Democrats, so what else can one expect from them?

Shades of Vince Foster, who killed himself in the parking lot of the White House and was dumped in Ft. Marcy Park.

Thanks to good ole Ken Starr, the dumpers went free. Thanks to the nincompoops in DC -- political and otherwise, Chandra's murderer will go free.

Better get the Gracie Park Police that investigated Vince Foster's homisuicide involved...They'll get to the bottom of this!

Remember, Brigette, that Mr. Conduit was never a suspect! Well, that's why they tell us. As far as I can see, he's the ONLY suspect!

Had she fallen out due to some unusual medical situation she wouldn't have been so off "the beaten path", IMHO.

Agreed, it's hard to imagine her jogging with a shovel and burying herself after she fell ;-)

Geraldo made an excellent point last night, that 'famous, powerful men use a facilitator to meet with and to break up with their girlfriends'.

He pointedly said it would be helpful to know the name of that person. How true. Perhaps it was the Chief of Staff - the same guy driving Condit to Luray Caverns? Another Congressman?

Drs. Wecht and Lee agreed that after this time it will not be possible to determine if she was pregnant, destroying one major piece of DNA evidence (paternity).
