"Rather" could "sub" anytime for a Season's Fruit Cake." I had a feeling that ALF would take his place.

Dan: This hurricane wind is so strong I've lashed myself to this pole to keep from blowing away.

Cameraman: Yeah, sure, Dan — can I shut off the camera and get back in the van now, my cigarrette is getting wet.

Hmmm...Who else used to throw accusations around and when called on it...tap dance there way out...some kind of pattern here. Rather is just grasping at anything to make this stick....someone needs to tell him it's over...it will never stick. Dan is getting slow with age. The question is...Does "The Dan" really think he has any credibility left? ...How sad. He thinks he's still relevant.

Not only is Dan irrelevant, he is also ignorant.
In a local radio interview in Nov. 2000, Rather asserted that Bill Klinton could legally run for President again (and automatically win, of course) in 2004. Of course, Dan has probably NEVER looked at the US Constitution...

Then there was the immortal quote from Danny Boy last year on O'Reilly: "Yes, I think Bill Clinton is an honest man."

The needle has not moved off zero on Rather's credibility meter in 30+ years.

He thinks he's still relevant.

And as further proof there's no accounting for taste, the dolts at cbs apparently feel the same way. If memory serves, the "captain" was recently given a 3 to 4 year contract extension at cbs for a "job well done".

The larger question is why the "big three" would continue to alienate the conservatives of the world and kowtow to the leftists. Having an agenda doesn't seem to fully explain their actions, but it comes as close as anything else from my vantage point. Would that I could sit in on a few board meetings...

You would think that a loss of viewers would nudge them toward at least a little introspection.....but i guess it's hard when everyone in the board meetings are like minded sycophants.

Thanks for the flag, Peace. Mr Blather's hole he's digging just gets deeper and deeper.

Brokow is the trailblazer. Wonder who'll be next, the Canuck or the Texan?

>>I worry that patriotism run amok will trample the very values that the country seeks to defend.

Translation: Reverse the tax cut legislation, elect Democrats, and increase the size of government [excluding military].

Rather is not only partisan - he's parroting the spin.

Dan Rather will be in a padded room before he shuffles off to liberal, elitist, socialist hell. He is so consumed by his own importance he cannot see that he has become a cariacature. The dread is written on his "drunken" face.

"Would that I could sit in on a few board meetings..."

The answer lies with Viacom.

...somewhere there's a, "Mr. Jensen."

"The needle has not moved off zero on Rather's credibility meter in 30+ years."

Yes.
That was true of his Credibility Meter; it's probably frozen in place after all this time.

But...
The BS Meter on the other hand slammed so hard, it broke.
Membership in the CCRM (in good standing) has its privileges; and so, you're entitled to know some important details, here.
The most important detail being, the BS Meter's needle deflected so hard, the sucker's now permanently bent.

...FYI & FWIW: Electrical Engineers recognize this condition as, "Peyronie's Needle."

Chicks dig ALF, which I suspect is more than you can say for Danny Boy.

That shot was actually taken in a wind tunnel against a blue (?) matte background. Then some hurricane footage was blended in prior to the news program.

As much trouble as I may be in for saying this, I must say that Peggy Noonan thought Rather tried to include both sides in his programs in the 1980s.
