>Or is it something far, far more sinister? Something at the sick heart of American Christianity?  The passivity of Christians in the face of the brutalization of the Serbs is another scandal.

Thank you so much for your posts and perceptive comments.  Christians should have been watching the Jews, the canary in the mines, and taking heed.  They should have believed their Bibles instead of the false prophets.  Every ounce of intelligence and information should be wrung from the Burnhams' tragedy, lest while some weep and moan the lessons are lost, and repeated multiplied times over.

The Muslims meant "Burn'em" for all Jews and Christians and the U.N.godly globalists are helping the wicked.  Escapist notions held by many Christians that "it can't happen to me," are being dispelled for anyone paying attention.  The Word says, 2Ti 3:12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecutionGracia may never have thought she would sit as a widow.  There is a message there for anyone who wants to search it out.

This morning on Fox - a news guy was talking to a family member of the Burnhams, he commented on how Martin had been killed but they were grateful to the PI forces for saving Grace.

Look into her eyes America, she has met "the enemy".

Amazing Grace!How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.
'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed.
Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
'Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.
The Lord has promised good to me,
His Word my hope secures;
He will my Shield and Portion be,
As long as life endures.
Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.
The world shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun refuse to shine;
But God, who called me here below,
Shall be forever mine.
When we've been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Than when we'd first begun.
Some beautiful words, God Keep you Gracia

From THE BIBLE: Romans: Chapter 13:

13:1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

13:2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.

13:3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:

13:4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.

13:5 Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.

13:6 For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.

13:7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.

13:8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.

13:9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

13:10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

13:11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

13:12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

13:13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.

13:14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

FYI: This is an often overlooked passage from The Bible.

The greatest thing anyone can do for God and man is pray. It is not the only thing, but it is the chief thing. The great people of earth are the people who pray. I do not mean those who talk about prayer; nor those who say they believe in prayer; nor yet those who can explain about prayer; but I mean those people who take time to pray." -S.D. Gordon

Praying for the Burnhams, their families, and their friends. Amen.

"Burnham Leaves Philippines After Testifying"

"Philippine President Praises Burnham's Courage, Determination"

POSTED: 12:23 pm CDT July 30, 2004
UPDATED: 12:44 pm CDT July 30, 2004

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "MANILA, Philippines -- An American missionary who returned to the Philippines to testify against the Muslim rebel captors who held her and her slain husband for more than a year said Friday she hoped her effort would help rid the country of terrorism.

Escorted by FBI agents, Gracia Burnham, 45, left Manila on a U.S.-bound flight a day after recounting in a court how her captors from the al-Qaida-linked Abu Sayyaf group used to shackle her husband Martin before he was killed in a bloody June 2002 military rescue operation.

"How I would love to see your fair land free from terror," a smiling Burnham read from a prepared statement at the airport. "It is the wish of so many of us. ... That's why I returned to testify."

She said her testimony "was one thing I could do to make this country and this world a better place."

The Burnhams, of Rose Hill, Kan., and longtime Christian missionaries for the Florida-based New Tribes Mission, were celebrating their 18th wedding anniversary when they were abducted at a resort on western Palawan island on May 27, 2001, and taken by speedboat to southern Basilan island.

Also seized were Guillermo Sobero, of Corona, Calif., and 17 Filipino workers and tourists. Sobero was among several hostages beheaded."

"Arroyo thanks Gracia Burnham"

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Malacañang on Friday thanked American missionary Gracia Burnham who testified against her suspected former captors in an emotional return to the country.

"I admire Gracia Burnham’s courage and faith and her determination to bring terrorists to justice," Arroyo said in a statement.

The President added: "The trial of the Abu Sayyaf who abducted her and her husband is living proof of our determined fight against terror in partnership with all nations and peoples. Her testimony also upholds the integrity and uncommon valor of our Armed Forces, and I thank her for her concern for our people’s peace and security."

Burnham on Thursday testified before Presiding Judge Loriefel Pahimla of the Pasig City Regional Trial Court, where kidnapping charges were filed, during a special hearing at the National Capital Region Police headquarters in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig.

Burnham identified six arrested Abu Sayyaf bandits as the people who held her and her husband Martin for more than one year in Mindanao since they were kidnapped from the Dos Palmas island resort off Puerto Princesa City in Palawan on May 27, 2001."
