Rambo, let me preface my statement by saying that I am a Southern white boy from the state where Augusta National is located.

I will give you the point that the media has overhyped Tiger from day one, partly because of the color of his skin.

But Tiger is not responsible for this, and carries himself like a proper young man. Tell me, does he act like sir charles?

Tiger has earned his spot on golf legend by winning Seven major's, 3 of them Masters. I, for the life of me cannot understand your's and other's disdain for his success.

Tiger's father should shut up.......his son is a grown man and should be able to speak for himself. Papa got rich and dumped his wife, still trying to hold on to Tiger. BAD BAD BAD!

...he signed on saying that he was a victim of Racism.

Where did Tiger (not a commentator, not his dad, not Gypsy Jackson, not anyone else, but Tiger himself) say that he was a victim of racism? He was a bit more brash in his youth, but today, he is a much more mature, class act.

For those that do not like Tiger, or think that he plays "the race card" from time to time. Remember, after winning the Masters he was invited to the White House by Clinton. Tiger turned him down. Not publicly said, but known was that Tiger knew it was nothing more than a photo op for Clinton and he wanted no part of it.

I will tell you that I am almost sure that it was the Player's Championship of a couple of years ago when Tiger fans threw his ball out of some bushes.

This is not an unusual occurrence. Fans used to kick Arnold Palmer's ball out of the rough, too.

"The picture at the top of the page (where she is sitting next to Tiger's mom)...to me, that's what makes her even hotter. All the makeup and glam, that doesn't do it for me at all."

Agree 100% with you. A "hot babe" is only for looking at - they rarely have any passion and feel that their looks are all the contribution they need to make to a relationship. Voice of experience.

Ditch the makeup, the wet-T-shirt tramp look, and go for the cute, soft, feminine "fresh-scrubbed" look. And big boobs? Hah. Note to the adolescents among us - the Golden Zone is two feet lower.

I played every course at Bethpage including the Black. Granted, it was a while ago but on week-end mornings when the wait was 3 hours on the other courses, we got on the Black in 20 minutes. Most people didn't like it length and it is physically demanding. There are a lot of hills and side lies. It has some tricky doglegs that these guys will be using irons on first shot or the daring ones will be going over the trees with 4 or 5 woods. Watch the last 4 holes. Just when you feel beat, tired and hot you get to climb some long steep hills that will have the out of shape guys panting. If it is in the 90's, conditioning will play a big role. The greens are pretty flat but some are very big. Check out the 190 yard plus par-3's. Back then I hit a pretty long ball and shot consistently in the middle 80's. I shot a 93 on the Black and I felt like I had a great day. And that was from the men's tees not the Championship tees. It will be a lot of fun watching the great ones try to tame this course. I'd pick the guy who has very accurate iron play to stay out of trouble and hit the greens in regulation.

There are only two par five holes on the course. I don't think Tiger will do well on that type of course.

Don't want to sound like a total wimp (because I like the "Golden Zone" too), but I think the real great part of any woman is what's between their ears.

I dated a girl who was the best looking thing around (ending up in one of the Playboy mags, Lingerie, I think). But, she was dumber than a post! And worse, she was a liberal. I was (much) younger at the time, so let me just say that I didn't, ehem, "respect" her in many different ways.

That's why I think that since Tiger's galpal was a au pair/nanny indicates to me that she must like/love children. This is normally a good starting place. Most of the "good" women that I know have a geniune care for children, and don't tend to use them as a punchline, a la "it's for the chhiillllllldreeenn".

...after winning the Masters he was invited to the White House by Clinton. Tiger turned him down.

To me, this is only more reason to understand (as has been said in this post SEVERAL times) that Tiger isn't the one hyping himself. He goes out on the golf course and kicks a$$. If he was about pumping himself up (as rambo316 has alluded), he would have accept the invite, issued a press release, and posed for endless amount of photos with the Ex-Rapist in Chief.

To conclusion that can be made? 1) He didn't/doesn't like Clinton, his FATA$$ wife, and their politics, 2) He is smart enough to know not to associate (even with so much as a photo op) with such scum, or 3) He just wants to go play golf and win.

Now, while I would love to know that number 1 and 2 are the reason, I think number 3 is THE reason. Why? Well, because that is what Tiger has said all along: all he wants to do is play golf and win.

To rambo316: On the race card, you are TOTALLY (let me repeat that TOTALLY) off base. This young man has addressed his race 1 TIME. He provided a statement that accurately depicted his heritage. And though he came up with a spiffy new definition of that mixture, he stated clearly that, "It is the final and only comment I will make regarding the issue."

Rambo, to assert that he plays the race, proves that you are interested in a self-created delusion about this young man.

One last point and I will quote from the young man himself, "The critical and fundamental point is that ethnic background and/or composition should NOT make a difference. It does NOT make a difference to me. The bottom line is that I am an American...and proud of it!" (Source). [emphasis added]

Woods is a great golfer but I do not really care for him, why? Because when he was signing all those deals with Nike and all, he signed on saying that he was a victim of Racism.

You're way off. Tiger had a chance to grandstand when Fuzzy Zoeller made his idiotic comments, and instead Tiger handled the situation with understated grace. I have no idea why the networks cover him (could be race), but Tiger certainly doesn't create his own hype. He's a class act all around.

The brain IS the most erotic organ in the human bod, that's for certain. A delightful female with a brain will know how to use whatever other assets the good Lord has given her. A female with no brain can have all the other "assets" and not have a clue. The very best intimate experiences of my life were with girls who would probably not turn too many heads - but were pleasureable beyond measure.

You can usually tell the quality of a guy by looking at his wife. Fred Couples used to play great golf and had a great wife, or so it appeared. Then he got divorced, played the singles field, and he can't even qualify for the Open. Freddy forgot which clubhead he was supposed to use for thinking.

The networks cover him because even people who won't normally watch golf on TV will watch Tiger. He has a great natural appeal to a wide viewing segment, and networks love being able to deliver a good audience to their advertisers.

Plus, the Open is always fun to watch. The course sysops take such delight in crafting a layout that is as unforgiving as Torquemada - the players either do it perfectly or plunge precipitously in the standings, and as often as not, some unexpected dark horse shows up and wins it all - like Daly did.

Unfortunately for Daly, his turn with the Magic Ring is over. What made it work for him was that he strolled around the course half in the bag (OK, maybe a third), banged the hell out of the long shots and caressed the putts like a tender woman, and didn't bother with analyzing the game. He just hit the ball long and dropped it in the cup.

Then the pressure got to him, chemicals didn't help, and now he's lost the carefree approach to the game that made him a winner. He used to have fun on the course. Now he's playing sober and having to analyze every shot out the gazotch. You don't get much magic in your touch if you play a workmanlike game. And that's Daly sober - long but workmanlike.

I hope you understand that I am not putting Tiger down. He is clearly the best golfer of the last 25 years and is on track to become the greatest ever. I will admit, I don't like most of his fans as they don't understand what it takes for him to be as great as he is. A lot of the casual golf fans that he brought to the sport can't comprehend his not winning every week. They also don't understand that he is also the hardest working player on tour. I have a tremendous amount of respect for the way he has handled his career. Since he won the 97 Masters, he has completely rebuilt his swing as well as completely rebuilt his support staff (except for Butch Harmon). He has replaced the whole "inner circle" who used to be made up of his fathers cronies with people he trusted and felt comfotable with. He is a class act in every respect and simply the best at what he does.

Shoot. I wish DD would tighten up a little. He's gone soft since winning the British....He is my favorite golfer as I have to love a guy who reads Ayn Rand while on tour.

What I mean by "loosen up" is he needs to show some more emotion and excitement. Like on Sunday at the Ryder cup. He was on fire and let everyone know.

His 59 barely registered an increase in heart rate when he dropped the putt on 18.

But I also understand where his demeanor on the course comes from. When he was younger his brother was very ill and later died. He retreated to the golf course and used it as his escape for the duration of his brothers illness and later death.

Not only did his brother die, he died after receiving a bone marrow transplant from David. At that age, he felt responsible. If you can find a copy, read the SI article from 1998 (I believe) as it tells his whole life's story which is quite a good one.

As for his play, his injuries have really hurt as he can't seem to get well. I really thought he would compete at the PGA last year as the course (my home one BTW) was set up perfectly for him. I hope he can get healthy and regain that unquenchable desire to win.

Also, his performance on Sunday in the Ryder Cup was special (as was the entire teams). But he really did fire everyone up when he crushed Parnevick 5 up and then wen nuts (for him) on the green. The following year was when he and Tiger became close friends after Tiger won the British with DD in the final pairing. I would love to see DD rise up and take on Tiger as it would be great for the game.
