Rehnquist Talks Military Tribunals

The Supreme Court's previous rulings on military tribunals may have come out as they did depending on whether the country was at war or peace when the court got the case, Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist said Friday.

"These cases suggest that while the laws are surely not silent in time of war, courts may interpret them differently then than in time of peace," Rehnquist said.

The Supreme Court may take up the issue again sometime soon, should an accused terrorist be tried that way and appeal the verdict to the high court.

Should the federal courts thwart the Bush administration's handling of terrorists, the public pressure for the Senate to approve Bush's judicial nominees would be overwhelming, and 'rats would ignore it at their peril.

Unless it is spun by the Rats and their media lapdogs as another example of Bush overstepping his authority...

...God forbid that, but it's likely to happen nonetheless.
