Good-Bye Cruel Free Republic
6-16-02 | wasfree

Posted on 06/16/2002 5:32:24 AM PDT by magnum opus dejure

Well, it's been 4 years since I first found Free Republic. I have always felt like I belonged here and have really enjoyed the banter back and forth between us members. I am afraid all this is now over. I am really suprised and shocked at it's suddenness. Before I leave I want to thank a freeper from Michigan who sent me a DVD player last year to give to my kids for Christmas. You reaffirmed my faith in humanity.

I know this thread will be deleted before many people get to read it, but I just can't go without saying a final word. Every since 911 the 'vibe' here at FR has been decidedly hostile. I guess it was a matter of time before the newbie moderator got around to weeding me out for my sometimes unpopular views. So I join the ranks of A+Bert and so many others who gave FR a interesting flavor. I will miss coming here 20 times a day and keeping up on things. But without posting priviledges there is just no point. I must go find another conservative group to try to be a part of.

In the future, when a freeper who has been a loyal member since August 1998 crosses the line, how about a note instead of banning? Would that have been too much? I may have gotten out of line, how is beyond me, but if such a tresspass would have been pointed out I would gladly have refrained from doing so again. It is just not right to just ban an account with no explaination. Especially when the freeper has been here 4 years. I have no idea what I am going to do with my days now that I no longer have FR. Well, I guess I have said my part. It is a sad day when one has to leave family and friends. I feel like some of you were just that. But apparently I am no longer wanted around here. I bid my good day to you all and hope that karma pays it's respects to those who do injustice.

Here's tough! -- No question about manhood here by golly:

My,MY! No wonder he gets all hot and bothered over Bubba Bush. He IS the "perfect little German". Maybe Bubba-2 can find a job for him in The Office of Reich Security?

Just wanting to see if you were as verbally tough with a man as you are with the women around here. I think the answer is obvious.

Until proven otherwise he is holding an American citizen

The man was first held as a material witness. That allows the feds 30 days to charge him or let him go, On the 30th day they CHARGED his as an unlawful combatant and transferred his custody and control from the DOJ to the DOD. There only remains the question as to the trial venue. BTW, this guy may be a citizen now, but my guess is that will not be the case for long. He meets all criteria for having his citizenship nullified.

But I am more afraid of what our Government is doing to us!

You know, I'm all for returning our government to the government dreamed of by the Founding Fathers and to a place where the Constitution is the fixed (and simple) rule of the day, but you will never hear me betray my country by comparing it to the terrorists. Ever.

You say Osama wasn't here then when that happened? Well, neither was GW Bush. He is the current leader who is in the unfortunate position of having to deal with these terrorists and I will do everything in my power to support his efforts to that end.
To quote a favorite President of mine:

"Either you're with us or you're with the terrorists."

Saying that our government is to be feared more than the terrorists speaks very plainly to where loyalties lie.

You perceive that the chances of you being harmed by terrorists is insignificant. I disagree.

The actions of the government, which prior to 9/11 were involved in much less draconian measures, tells me that there IS a real chance of harm from terrorists.

It is MY personal opinion that we have many, many sleepers in this country: gangs, anarchists, enviro-whackos, leftists, Arabs (not all), non-Arab Muslims (not-all), Cinese Islamicists, Black Muslims. I believe that ALL of these groups have some members with ties to al Qaeda.

A government that was unconcerned with the Constitution would have rounded up all of these people and questioned them, deporting those who weren't citizens.

So, I think the griping about this one person, who obviously has a bad history, is being pretty pickayunish. If he government really wanted to take away our rights, there would be a whole lot more people in custody.

"we are not at war. War is declared by Congress not the White House."

Yeah, just keep repeating this over and over. Maybe you will be able to reverse the (almost unanimous) Authorization for Use of Military Force by the Congress. Hate to bust your bubble, friend, but we are most definitely at war.

I mean that in a legal sense. All of the cases sighted by this administration of legal precedent for denying an American citizen his Constitutional right to due process was during a "legally declared" war... not some war on drugs type declaration from the White House. I'm not against going after the terrorist with everything in our arsenal but we don't have to trash our freedoms in the process. I believe we can pursue these bastards to the end of the earth and preserve liberty at the same time.

I am not the one whining like a little girl about a daily thread.

Yup. You got that right. Bush is CFR and Skull & Bones. He's gonna help Mexico take over Texas and California. Then he's gonna turn the rest of the U.S. over to the U effin N.

Well, I don't know about the Skull and Bones or the CFR. I know I don't like his Homeland Security, I sure didn't like it when Ashcroft said we were traitors if we spoke against the President.

I didn't like it when I saw the taxpayer money spent on adds saying if you do dope you have killed a policeman or a Judge or whatever but our government didn't bomb the poppy fields.

I don't like the open borders that he refuses to close.

I didn't like it when the National Guard was put in to guard the airports in full military gear but no shells in their rifles.

It seems the only one that stands up for the Constitution is Ron Paul. Wish he was in my district so I could vote for him.

Do you deny the masturbation quote that was attributed to you by Granite State Conservative? If you did not say that, I withdraw my comment, which was only meant to show you how vulgar YOU were being.

Oh heck no ! I outright admit I've said things like, "I was told by someone that they had their posting priveledges revoked for interrupting a masturbation fest on a thread called 'A day in the life of President Bush'".

Just like I've said things like, "The media was slathering all over itself in an ORGY of self-congratulations.". While showing ME how vulgar YOU perceive me to be, it might not be the best strategy to accuse me of penis envy. Just a thought. :)

Well, a joint resolution of Congress authorized this war. Whether you and Hillary agree with it or not, it is the law of the land. And, in the meantime, President Bush is doing a helluva job conducting the war to the satisfaction of the American people.

Try again.

I don't see it either. How about increase the font and put it in bold? Or is this one of those things like conversations with imaginary friends?

I tend to agree with you on this..

I mean, Johnny Tally-ban get's lawyers and a trial and he was caught in a foreign country, in a war zone within that country, with a gun in his hand and a rag on his head..

So, yeah.. If anyone should have forefitted their citizenship and therefore their right's it should be johnny first.. IMO.

(and that moron from france, can you even believe he's getting a jury trial? Oh well, it will be good from an entertainment standpoint anyway.. )

. Our safety he may threaten but only our own government has the ability to threaten our freedoms and they are doing just that.

I agree, you say it better than I can.

Thanks

Oh, I see. You are allowed to use that phrase and insult the people on the picture thread. It is an intellectual exercise.

However, when I infer(never having used the actual term) something similar, I am being vulgar.

Thanks for the clarification. In other words, you are allowed to say whatever you wish, but I must be ladylike at all times.

OK. Got it. Thanks.
