Good-Bye Cruel Free Republic

Well, it's been 4 years since I first found Free Republic. I have always felt like I belonged here and have really enjoyed the banter back and forth between us members. I am afraid all this is now over. I am really suprised and shocked at it's suddenness. Before I leave I want to thank a freeper from Michigan who sent me a DVD player last year to give to my kids for Christmas. You reaffirmed my faith in humanity.

I know this thread will be deleted before many people get to read it, but I just can't go without saying a final word. Every since 911 the 'vibe' here at FR has been decidedly hostile. I guess it was a matter of time before the newbie moderator got around to weeding me out for my sometimes unpopular views. So I join the ranks of A+Bert and so many others who gave FR a interesting flavor. I will miss coming here 20 times a day and keeping up on things. But without posting priviledges there is just no point. I must go find another conservative group to try to be a part of.

In the future, when a freeper who has been a loyal member since August 1998 crosses the line, how about a note instead of banning? Would that have been too much? I may have gotten out of line, how is beyond me, but if such a tresspass would have been pointed out I would gladly have refrained from doing so again. It is just not right to just ban an account with no explaination. Especially when the freeper has been here 4 years. I have no idea what I am going to do with my days now that I no longer have FR. Well, I guess I have said my part. It is a sad day when one has to leave family and friends. I feel like some of you were just that. But apparently I am no longer wanted around here. I bid my good day to you all and hope that karma pays it's respects to those who do injustice.

You might show this thread to the lady you took out to dinner and see what she thinks about it.

Well, M'am, sometime I just might. But M'am, I suspect she might not be able to contain herself from laughter and yet another coating of hot tea or coffee is the last thing this here monitor and keyboard needs.

Thanks Admin for clearing that up. Yes, Racism and Sexism are not appropriate. I believe my WOMAN Senator, Kay Bailey Hutchison, has been doing quite well, thank you, without quotas or political correctness. And if Star Parker were to run for a political office, I would have no problem voting for her. I can't stand Sheila Jackson Lee, Barbara Lee, or Mary Francis Berry - but that is NOT because they are black women - it's because they are LIBERAL DEMOCRATS, and demagogues. I can't stand Pete Stark, Al Gore, Paul Begala or James Carville, and it's not because they are white males, it's because they are LIBERAL DEMOCRATS and demagogues. CONSERVATISM IS WELCOME TO ALL RACES, MALE AND FEMALE. Racism and sexism should be weeded out. And I don't mean racism in terms of anyone who opposes Jesse Jackson, or sexism as anyone who opposes Pat Ireland.

The al Qaeda select whom they will, cultivating members from groups that the CIA cannot pretend to be. We don't have 16-year old CIA agents, like Johnny Jihad was when he joined. I doubt we have CIA members as Puerto Rican gang members. Probably that is going to change.

Besides, if we HAD infiltrated al Qaeda, would you expect the intelligence agencies to admit it?

Look, whether you like it or not your country is at war. I support our Commander-in-Chief 100% in this war effort. This website supports the President and the war 100%. If you guys can't live with that, then perhaps it's time for you to move along to a different forum more to your liking.

I suspect the hot coffee wouldn't land on the keyboard.

But then, that is only my opinion.

That's not our constitution, it's your lack of constitution! We're at war, sh*tforbrains, in case you hadn't noticed. And Padilla-bean is a traitor, a prisoner of war. He doesn't have constitutional rights, other than that which exits his rear, much like your posts.

I think the answer is obvious.

Then again, that's just you thinking. We all know what a defective process that is. Try not to hurt yourself.

100%? That's a pretty strong statement there. So you're saying no one on this website should say anything the slightest bit critical of the way President Bush is handling the War on Terrorism?

BTW, this guy may be a citizen now, but my guess is that will not be the case for long. He meets all criteria for having his citizenship nullified.

Not gonna happen. The US gooberment won't even let you denouce your US citizenship anymore. Marc Rich tried this, and they wouldn't let him. The reason for this is the gooberment doesn't want people to claim other citizenship so they don't have to pay US taxes. That was the whole thing behind Bubba-1's pardon of Rich. He had been living in Switzerland as a Swiss citizen, and owed millions in US taxes.

What is so hard about the Padilla case? Why the need to play balanced and fair? Its straightforward..the man is a killer, terrorist and is an enemy of the US.That is what is known, NOW.As for slippery slope arguments, why even make them unless you want to doubt the righteousness of thwarting killers like Padilla?

Your entire premise is specious to say the least, most notably the idea that a terrorist attack is statistically insignificant.Yeah, well, the Soviets weren't likely to go first strike, but that didn't make arming against them a dumb idea, did it? Based on your logic, no need for Missile Defense, either....

"if it can happen to him, it can happen to you and me"

If we are a member of a group that the congress authorizes the president to use military force against- then yes, we could be detained as military combatants by the US military. If we are American citizens, then we have a right to habeous corpus proceedings.

And if we are members of the group congress authorized military force against, the courts will agree that we are appropriately treated as military detainees.

What is wrong with that?

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Have you ever heard of the "war on drugs". Isn't it authorized by Congress? Hasn't Congress authorized the use of the military in this war? If you can't see what's wrong with our government arbitrarily labeling American citizens as combatants and thus strip them of their "God given rights" then you scare me. How do we know this man did anything? We don't! What recourse does an innocent man in Padilla's shoes have? None he just sits in jail for an indefinite length of time. That's just not what America is supposed to be.

How long until we have another corrupt Bubba in the White House, who we all know loved his political enemies. This power that we are bestowing on our rulers will come back to bite every one of us in the ass. Count on it.

Exactly..

And the Nazi's didn't give France back to he French.. And we didn't give France back to the Nazi's.

They lost the land.. I have no idea where this term "occoupation" comes from.

They make it sound like the Jews just showed up and took over out of the clear blue sky. It's everywhere.. All over the news, it's been repeated so frequently that it's accepted as fact.

And never once do I hear someone say: "Well, you know they would have had their palsetinian state in the partition plan of '48 if they would have just been cool.."

Is there something I am missing here? Cause from where I sit it looks like they lost that land fair-0and-square.

Its straightforward..the man is a killer, terrorist and is an enemy of the US.

And even if any of that is in doubt, what is not in doubt is that he was learning to build bombs in Afghanistan. There's really no non-malicious reason to do that.

Too bad that some people around here don't support us when we're at war.

And we come full circle. Why are they allowed to keep hanging around here? If they don't support us when we're at war, what do you think they did before and will do after?

The threat to liberty and freedom comes from Washington not Afghanistan. It's not Osama that denies an American citizen due process in this country. It's not the Taliban that allows law enforcement to break in and search your house and papers without a search warrant with no prior evidence of criminal activity. It's not Saddam that requires you to jump through hoops and do flips in order to own a firearm for self defense.

This is not a statement about how we should keep a watchful eye on our government. This is unfounded leftist spin that our government is worse than the terrorists. sandmanbr confirmed it here:

And if Bush violates the rights and freedoms guaranteed by our Constitution he is more dangerous to our liberty than Osama.

He's gonna help Mexico take over Texas and California. Along with the rest of the country. Why is there any question about this? What else can you call his desire to make instant citizens out of millions of illegal aliens? - 686 by sneakypete

You're coming apart like a cheap suit, sneaky. - roscoe

Reaganesque? - 691 - tex

He didn't do any such thing. Don't fall for the propaganda. -693 JR

Regardless of whether or not you support the passage of 245(i), it only grants people amnesty from deportation while they apply for papers granting them legal status in the USA. It does not grant them citizenship, and President Bush has never made such a request.

-------------------------------

Hmmm, 'they can't be deported while a getting legal status', sounds almost like getting citizenship to me, ------ and not at all like reaganesque, cheap suit, 'propoganda'.

But then, I don't have any reasons to be defending a political regime, either.

I'm saying it is my aim and one of the goals of this website to support the war 100%. I've never said you can't criticize. I have said that those who come in here trashing the President or working against the war effort are going to get banned. And I've probably tossed off a hundred or more people in the last several months for doing just that. There is a point where the bashing is no longer productive criticism and no longer welcome and it will lead to an invite to go elsewhere.

but you will never hear me betray my country by comparing it to the terrorists. Ever.

THERE IS NO COMPARING GOING ON! Why the HELL do so many of you have trouble understanding this? Bin Laden and the other terrorists do NOT have the ability to write US law,nor can they vote on bills in the US congress and Senate. They are not going to write and pass gun laws. They are not going to raise your taxes. They are not going to make Islam the official religion of the US. They are not going to sign things like the Koyoto treaty in our name. ALL they can do is attack us,and they can be killed on sight. Try this with a congressman or Senator, and you are in BIG-TIME trouble!
