And that is the ultimate "Dog Bites Man" story. The business model of commercial journalism is to position journalism--thus its customers as well--as serious and significant. That's "sizzle" which they sell, but the "steak" which they actually deliver is "Man Bites Dog" (superficial) and "Drinking Water May Be Contaminated" (scary) stories.

If half the propaganda deployed in favor of the Kyoto treaty had been deployed against Hitler in the early/mid 1930s, "the Unnecessary War" (as Churchill syled it) would have been prevented. Likewise for Osamma bin Laden and the WTC/Pentagon disaster.

The reason that consistently happens is that it's so much easier--and safer--to attack home-grown conservatives than it is to depart from the safety of pack journalism and search out and attack an actual villain.

I encourage anyone who subscribes to the New York Times to cancel immediately. The idea of paying good money to journalist to have them lie to you and destroy what you hold dear is unbelievable to me. Please, someone tell me that they now understand and will get on the correct path.

Their numbers - which they sent to the Times, but which the Times has yet to report - are that temperatures have risen by 4.16 degrees Fahrenheit at Barrow, 2.28 degrees F at Nome, 2.26 degrees F at Anchorage, and 1.07 degrees F at Fairbanks.

I see--they just added some of these numbers up to get "a 7 degree temperature increase in Alaska."

Here we are on June 20, when a normal temperature on a sunny day here would be about 100 degrees, and the high today was 72. - The geeks on the radio were all griping about the 'heat.'

Funny you mention that.... here in south Georgia, at this time we have usually been well into the summer heat wave- running the AC's all the time and watching the electric bills like a hawk. So far, the weather has been mild, cooling into the 60's & 70's at night, which really reduces the heat load on the house.

Winter was comparably mild- it never got to the seemingly endless days with heaters lit everywhere to keep the chill off. Instead, we just ran a space heater in the room we were in at the time.

The real bottom line on all this stuff is that we simply do not have enough good, complex data over a long enough period of time to know what the "H" we are doing- or even what to do.

Since the Sun accounts for around 99.9% of the total mass within the Solar System, I strongly suspect the Sun is the prime operator behind Earth's climate, and that nothing we do will or can affect it much- if at all.

Less than two decades would elapse in covering the North with the beginnings of an ice-cap.

It might take nothing more than one summer that doesn't happen. A few years ago here in Fairbanks it snowed fairly heavily right after Labor Day. Power lines were down, leaves froze in place on trees. Odd thing is, it never even once got above freezing again until spring, which took 9 months, and the leaves were still frozen on the trees all that time. The snow that fell right after Labor Day was still on the ground in May. Sure, it's Alaska, but even so it was a little extreme. It was interesting in the eventual spring how the new leaves would grow past the old ones still on the branches.

There was an article in The Los Angeles Times sometime during the last week about the
problems facing some Eskimos in Alaska because some treaty snafu might limit the
number of whales they can harvest.

The story did report that when one whale was taken "to town" to be cut up, the Eskimos
had to wait...because even in the middle of the day the temperature was too cold at
26 deg. (F) and the whale carcass needed to be thawed before it could be dressed out.

Incredible...The Los Angeles Times actually reports it's basically too freakin'
cold in Alaska in June.
I guess that cunning "global warming" disappears whenever you need to cut up a whale.

The Hadley Climate model, whose scientists had warned that its model wasn't good for forecasting local or regional results.

But some "scientists" like the results, so this is the model they'll use.

The ironic thing is we didn't get a loaf of bread from the grocery store or computers from the tech store or cars from automakers based on lies and inversion of reality. They absolutely had to adhere to objective reality in order to bring us those benefits. For that we are well served and very pleased.

What has politics brought us? Yes a few good things, but those few positives are dwarfed by several magnitude the negatives foisted on citizens by politicians and bureaucrats. And probably still singly dwarf the benefits from most big media and many post high school academia.

Government intervention into peaceful, private activity -- notably, free association wherein any or all parties are free to walk away -- will make things worse rather than better.

Any government agency that is a value to the people and society could better serve the people by being in the private sector where competition demands maximum performance.

Wake up! They are the parasites. We are the host. We don't need them. They need us.
