Brother Kenneth Hoagland, principal of the Uniondale school, says the challenge to the songs only brought to a head almost three years of conflict with the family who "did not accept the school's notion of Christianity."Jesus Christ Superstar? Is that the school's notion of Christianity? Some Catholic school that is.

I thought religion classes in most RCC high schools was for the purpose of discussion and debate. When my stepdaughters were in Catholic high school, they discussed all religions, that is when they weren't consoling their teacher who would whine that she wasn't sure if she believed in G-d at all. I wish the teacher had left her baggage to herself.

OPC and sending their kid to Catholic school? How'd they get that one by their "Council of Elders?" I attended several OPC churches for a few months. They always found a reason to criticize or ridicule Catholicism when they preached.

I repented about JCSC when I got saved, threw it all in the garbage. I was ashamed for even thinking that Mary Magdalene would ever say he's just one more man. I wonder if the school approves of the Indigo Girls' album where lesbians play the part of Jesus and MM. With all the sexual tensions in the play, I'm sure that's just the beginning.

Now counter the Christian response(asked to be excused from the concert) to the athiest twins reaction in another state where they were trying to force removal of the Lord's prayer via an attorney. I think the massive difference in behavior is very telling.

JCSS is a musical, not a worship service or theological statement. I'd much rather have my kids singing that than some pop song extolling sex, drugs and/or violence.
And what's this about "theological differences"? Could these parents have been so clueless that they don't know the differences in belief between the Catholic Church and the Reformed Churches? Even if they've now figured that out, wouldn't the serious "differences" be over issues like transubstantiation or the sacraments instead of a pop song?
I'm a Presby parent of kids in Catholic school and I knew exactly what I was getting into. We are guests and follow the school rules. My kids have been treated with respect and courtesy. Frankly, the "theological differences" have provided an opportunity to discuss the great common ground we all have as Christians and to contrast our differences with the Catholics. My kids probably know more about Christian theology and the Reformed faith than 90% of their fellow PresbyKids.

Blasphemous" ???
I'm a little confused. Why is it blasphemous? Because it's new?

Damn,it don't take much to get kicked out of school these days.I was practicaly begging to get kicked out and all I'd ever get is detention. It's getting pretty bad when they boot the church girls out and keep the juvey's in.

"Gaffey wants to see his daughter graduate from Kellenberg next year"
WHY?
If the school is supporting something that the family believes is blasphemous, why would he want his daughter to continue there?
