Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge James C. Chalfant has ruled that GOP candidate Bill Simon has done nothing illegal regarding financial dealings that have damaged his campaign.
The earlier $78 million civil fraud verdict against Simon & Sons found Bill Simon gradually losing ground, after coming neck in neck with the incumbent Gray Davis, in the race for the California Governors office.
But Judge Chalfant has found the previous ruling, that Simons business dealings were illegal, to be wrong.
California is a liberal leaning state that voted strongly for Al Gore. The Republican Party in California is often described as "in tatters." The Republican Primary earlier this year saw the moderate to liberal Riordan face of against the eventual winner, Bill Simon.

Nah. Normal people have just barely begun paying attention. This doesn't solve all his problems, but it helps.

I agree that it helps and may be just be enough to put him ahead. Of course you will not hear much about this on the locally liberal dominated media out side of the one time anouncement buried on page 24. Parley

Is Davis going to make an appeal?
To: newgeezer
I don't agree.
They may have erred in putting the lie out a little too early giving Simon time to counteract it.

Too late; the damage is done. According to the lastest leftist Field Poll, (a couple of days ago) Davis' unfavorable ratings are worse than Simon's. There were a LOT of undecideds that do NOT want to support Davis. There is still time as only a few points separate the two.

I don't think it's stupid. I think the damge *has* been done, and the media in Cal will never let him repair it in time.

I don't think it's stupid.I do.
And Simon is very competitive in the polls. Which were all conducted before this verdict was overturned. And before CA voters watch him debate. I think Simon's in very good shape.

Do you have any other stupid statements to share?Still haven't quite figured out how to get along well with others, eh? Tsk, tsk, ... Keep working on it. Maybe B Knotts, altura, or cinFLA would be kind enough to give you some pointers.
Funny how you're the only in the group.

Coop, I hope to God you're right about this. If Simon goes down to defeat, then RINO's the world over will have a field day.

Thanks. :-)

It will be interesting to see how the liberal mainstream media reacts to this and how much ink they give to it. When the original ruling came down it was front page news. Lets see what kind of play this reversal gets. I agree the damage has been done. Explaining all this to the general public will not be easy. Davis had scads of ads on every day pointing out details of the original ruling. The Simon campaign has got to get its act together and an agressive hard hitting ad campaign.

And I hope you're wrong. I'm just not the optimist today.
;^)
Your statement *still* isn't "stupid." The words you used were extracted from my own mouth (ewwwwwww!).
To: Cyber Liberty
Coop, I hope to God you're right about this.Right about what? Simon having a legitimate shot at winning? I don't think there's any doubt about it. There, of course, is some doubt as to whether Simon actually will win. I simply take issue with geezers coming on here blabbing nonsensically about Simon can't possibly win, when everything tangible points to exactly the opposite.
