I spent a lot of time with Major Castillo earlier this month at the Altamira Plaza in Caracas. He's a man of integrity who is deeply concerned about the fate of his country under the Chavez regime and has put his life on the line to expose the abuses of it. He needs to be heard far & wide. (See my first posting on FR from down there
here.)
More on why what happens in Venezuela should matter to us here in the USA, well beyond just stable oil supplies, here at these recent FR posts of articles direct from more top Chavez military officers who recently left him...

In Venezuela, Lenin Ramirez Sanchez, electrical engineer from the Central University of Venezuela,
and brother of "Carlos the Jackal", is director of the oil ministry.

Where are our investigative reporters from our main stream press? Where is the Senate Intelligence Group? Where is the CIA? Where is our Intel community?
Yeah - the US got singed a little in April? But as the Big Dog said - "You are either with us or against us".
Democracy or not - time for Special Ops....

Good post! Like many others here, I'd like to know what it's going to take for the American media to start taking this seriously. I suspect that our government takes it seriously (or at least, I certainly hope so), but there's a thundering silence about Venezuela in the press and on TV. What are they waiting for? What more do they need?

Time to take this little dictator to the cleaners if you know what I mean.

I'm beginning to wonder if our ambassador to Venezuela (Shapiro) isn't part of the problem. I'm also still in the dark about who (in the administration) has been assigned to this matter.
