Critics say President George W. Bush's new IRS commissioner, Mark Everson, must make it clear that he will not tolerate any such compromise of taxpayer privacy. I wonder what the skinny is on this guy.

That is true as long as we cling to the notion of taxing income. It is one of the greatest abuses of our constitutional rights that we have acquiesced to. This is just another of many reasons to scrap the whole 85+ year old failed experiment and go with a National Retail Sales Tax.
