Thanks for posting this. I've have to reread it a few times but before I do there is a question I didn't know who to ask. Do you know of
Michael Olteanu? He spent five years in the Romanian Gulag and his brother was killed by the communists. Michael's website
www.christusrex.org has wonderful art and history. His links after 9/11 are a shock. He has turned on America. Do you know what gives?

I am familiar with Christus Rex. I noticed that Olteanu has been posting articles by Robert Fisk and I am willing to tolerate a lot, but Fisk is even to much for me to stomach. I suspect his views have to do with the Israeli/Palestinian conflict.

The means needed to convince them testify to that. One priest was thrown into a sewer full of rats for two days. He relented.Sick and twisted. Can you imagine the depravity of one person to do that to another?

You're welcome. It is a such an intense read that it took my breath away. It is so very hard to imagine communists plunging the head of priests into buckets of fecal and urine that it just depresses me--and those are the milder tortures. God bless those brave men. What courage the had.

for those who hate communismA freeper *ping* list for that would be great. Do you know of one?
To: LarryLied
I don't have one. You of all people should have an "I hate communist" bump list, LL!
All I know is that the whole article made me sick to my stomach. To think that the west sat silent while these atrocities occured makes me want to burst into tears. I cannot imagine the cruelty those people endured. Bless their poor souls.

We will never know the full story either. There are not the films of communist atrocities that there are of the Holocaust. Many refuse to talk about it. The freepers who experienced it are sometimes difficult to follow as they assume people know facts they do not. CommiesOut, who I admired greatly, and I got into it more than once over my misunderstanding.
Perhaps someday the memorial to victims of communism will finally be built in DC. It should be. The Bolshevik revolution and its aftermath destroyed more people and did as much to shape world history as any event in history.

I had a question for you...not specifically about the contents of the article, but in regard to interventionalist policies held by libertarians.
Would you have supported US intervention into Romania to stop the horrific abuses that occured at the hands of the communists?
I ask because I would've supported using our military to help those people. What is your view?
Regards.

In honor of today's solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and for those who suffered so much under communist persecution--rest in peace.

Some history we don't see reported in America much.

Thank you for posting this thread, JMJ333. I confess to having known very little about this. May God be merciful to all Christians in Romania today, and may the Lord rebuild the Catholic presence the Communists sought to exterminate.
