Thank you.
It is not we who are the Church of Silence, but the members of the Church in the free world who are the real Church of Silence, for they do not speak on our behalf.
They were too busy navel-gazing and boycotting lettuce.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on us.

Actually the Black Church (the building in the background) is a Lutheran church. Just a little nitpicking ;-D

That is true about the Mongolian invasions being the most brutal. In fact, in terms of the percentages of world population slaughtered, the Mongols outdid both the Communists and Nazis put together, and that's saying a lot!

Thank you for adding me to your list. This kind of article should be mandatory reading.

My pleasure. It is difficult to find detailed information about communist atrocities. We can be thankful for the internet. There are names which should be as familiar as Eichmann and Himmler but are not. Much has not even been translated yet.

But on the whole, the Orthodox leadership was responsible for no little injustice toward the Catholics. The Orthodox suffered themselves, however. The old Orthodox metropolitans, Mihálecescu and Criveanu, who were not sympathetic to Communism, were replaced by the government with "people?s prelates."
I am very saddened to read this attempt to slander the Orthodox Church. Clearly, the Orthodox clergy who were willing to withstand the Communist governments orders were killed. This article downplays that fact and focuses on the actions of the collaborators as if they could possibly represent the Orthodox faith. This is truly a disheartening piece of propaganda to behold.

I suppose you can always forward a comlaint to CERC. I find them to be honest and reputable. If you have links showing your side of the issue, then you are most welcome to post them.

Finally got to it...Incredible story. Maranatha! I realize there must be suffering, and discord. But I wish Christ would return, soon, and bring an end to the infighting among His children. The discord between Orthodox and Catholic saddens me more than any other.

Re-bumping this. I think it is a good reminder of how Catholics are treated when atheism in arms takes control. We in this country are so comfortable. Bless those brave men and women who endured these sufferings for Christ.

Thanks for reposting. Aside of being an intense and moving read, it is the thread on which Siobhan pinged her faither, history_matters, and told him he had to read it when he got out of the hospital... and we know he did not come home.
Another one of our dear friends, OxfordMovement, first posted here for prayers offered for his little boy Michael who was sick in the hospital with an unknown ailment. We all know that Michael is now with Jesus.
Kind of amazing that this post, so moving on its own, contains two of the saddest things to happen in the Catholic Caucus group. Someone else I think of often is Father Elijah. God Bless him wherever he is.
Little Michael, pray for us. History_Matters, pray for us.
