I don't think anyone with a conscience will ever forget where they were and what they were doing when the events of 9/11 unfolded. Me, I was in the American politics chatroom. I didn't have to work that day until 2pm and I woke up about 9:20 and the first thing I did was light a cigarette and log into chat. When I got there, one of the chatters said "Billy, did you hear about the plane that just crashed?" - I said No... and then i turned on FOX - just moments after I turned it on, I heard...

Terri's Threads on FreeRepublic.com - 18 Nov 2003 0351 PST I've got good news and I've got bad news................ THE GOOD NEWS There are now five hundred seventy-four ( 574 ) 'Terri' threads containing a total of sixty-seven thousand five hundred and twenty-five ( 67,525 ) posts....that could be counted...I couldn't find eight of the threads previously posted.) THE BAD NEWS The blog I used seems to have nullified the URL's I pasted to each thread. If one of you is a wizkid and can tell me how overcome this situation - without having to do the whole thing over...

Terri's Threads on FreeRepublic.com - 13 Nov 2003 1035 PST Today, as of 1035 PST, a total of four hundred and ninety-five threads (495!!!) related to the Terri Schiavo life or death struggle taking place in Florida have been posted by one hundred and seventy-two (172) FReepers!!! Given the astonishing and incredible number of threads which focus on a wide variety issues all reated to the same subject, I thought it might be helpful to the FR membership, and those who occasionly review FR commentary, to have a source from which they could more easily access a particular item of...

For reasons I truly not do understand, a number of threads I posted to tonight to got pulled from News / Activision. Now, that's okay. It isn't my board. As far as I'm concerned, J&J can run it however they want. I would, however, like to know what the rules are. It is very annoying to spend fifteen minutes writing what you think will be an accepable post, only to go back and find that the entire thread has been yanked. There was *nothing* about any of those (the threads) that I thought was least bit objectionable. They were on...
  • NEW! Add keywords to existing articles!

    06/16/2002 7:20:43 PM PDT · by John Robinson · 31 replies · 856+ views
You now have the ability to add keywords to existing articles. In the KEYWORD column, click "Add Keyword" to access the form. You must be logged in to use this function. For security and cleanup duty, keywords added via "Add Keyword" are logged with your user id, though currently only moderators can view this information (though that may change in the future.) Use this feature as an ad hoc topic system and replacement for the deprecated bump list register.
  • Yesterday's Freepathon

The Freepathons are hard work for those of us who work the threads and the incoming donations. When donations come in it is our reward, no matter how small they are. We spend our time thanking the donor, posting amongst our selves, etc. When it gets quiet and hours go by without any incoming donations it gets very frustrating. So we go out and carpet bomb the threads to create more incoming donations. Here is where the problem starts. If you don't like our appeals, just scroll past them or DONATE. The sooner we reach or goal the sooner the bombs...

  • New Feature - Ability to add previously posted Thread to Topic

    03/13/2002 5:48:17 PM PST · by John Robinson · 36 replies · 336+ views
We now offer the ability for users to add an existing, previously posted thread to a topic or list of topics. This feature will support the migration of the bump list register to topics. This new feature is found via the thread page (posts), in the righthand TOPICS column, and is labelled "Click to Add Topic". Clicking the link will bring up a form, which currently only prompts for a list of comma-separated topics. In the future, this will be a comprehensive topic select screen.
