Japanese auction house Bingo and Yahoo! Auctions Japan jointly sold the most valuable Japanese motorcycle in auction history on October 31 when a near-perfect 2016 Honda RC213V-S sold for ¥27,100,000 (US$237,700), eclipsing the previous record held by a one-of-four (two extant) 1968 Honda CB750 prototype that fetched £157,500 (US$221,600) at British auction house H&H in 2018.
The sale of the RC213V-S for US$237,700 bodes well for the increased value of all collectible Japanese motorcycles because it’s just six years since the bikes were available new for $184,000 with the race kit costing an extra $12,000, for an all-up new price of $196,000 – the bike sold on Sunday had just 161 kilometers on the odometer, and the unfitted $12,000 race kit in the original Honda parts boxes.
Indeed, the RC213V-S is still so closely related to the squillion dollar factory bikes which Marc Marquez and Pol Espargaro ride in MotoGP, that when Marc Marquez was recovering from injury in March 2021, and wanted to test himself to see if he could still ride near the limit, he tested on an RC213V-S.

As a kid I had a two stroke Yamaha RD60 and figured out that if I bump started it backwards down the driveway I could ride it in reverse through all gears. Fun stuff.

Not for getting the adrenaline flowing!
Well, I was riding up there once in late December.
Nice clear weather. Got up there into higher altitudes -
somewhere above 3000 feet - and found a storm had
completely covered the road in snow. It hadn't been plowed,
and was slushy, icy, and VERY slippery.
Then I started down a very steep hill, with a curve at the
bottom with only a guardrail between me and a big
enough drop to cause death, most likely.
Pump the brakes, slowwwww down, don't slide straight
over the cliff, eeease it around that bend - atta boy...
THAT was good for a little adrenalin, I'll tell ya...
thanks for that link- love that track-
“The design for the Yamaha 650 Heritage Special was purchased from Triumph.
Was the Triumph Tiger 650 that model of bike that Yamaha purchased?
Do you know?”
No sure but they do look similar.
The resemblance is definitely there.
Had mine painted British racing green. But that’s my baby, except for the side reflector. (The pic. is a 68)
Absolutely love the BRP. I usually take a top to bottom trip (mile marker 0 to 469) every year or so. I didn’t make it this year because of back issues, but hopefully, next year!
I bypassed Roanoke to the southeast from route 220 south
of Roanoke to route 460 east of Roanoke on the BRP.
It made for a pleasant commute. Just had to be on the
lookout for deer though. Never hit any up there, but I came close.
