The Communists came to Paris to negotiate a surrender. Kerry's anti-American war movement was gaining traction so the Communists decided to wait it out and see if Kerry's VVAW group could turn the American public against the war. General Giap wrote about this in his memoirs.

After Kerry met with the Communists (while we were still fighting and dieing on the battlefield), the Communists coordinated the efforts of Kerry's VVAW through telephone calls, telling Kerry's anit-American war protesters what to protest against. (see FBI files here, SEE PAGE 25

And lets not forget the 3,500,000 people that were slaughtered in the "cleansing" that occurred after the U. S. pulled out of Vietnam. Kerry has their blood on his hands as well as the blood of American Heroes who died because Kerry prolonged the war.
