Those are things of the mind and spirit, not the body. But our culture has diminished that, the things that really matter. Concepts of honor and virtue and simple good have vanished in this age of social media, and even before then. Liberalism destroys everything it touches, including the human heart.
So people turn to other things to fill that void. They are driven to wild excesses of physical being. So it is that we now have "transgenderism" and homosexuality itself.
And when THOSE don't satisfy the need for identity, other things - like lashing out in violence and murder - are readily there to fill that lack of being complete.
So it's not surprising that too many young people and their "enlightened" elders are supporting Hamas. They have the need to "belong to something greater than themselves." Even if it's throwing their lot in with a 1,400 year old cult of murder and its adherents.

Interesting article. I would sharpen the point a bit more and say that most modern liberals derive purpose and meaning by hating Trump and conservatives. The leftist elites constantly leverage control of liberals by telling them over and over that Trump and conservatives are racists and a threat to democracy thereby infusing liberals with a false sense of moral superiority and providing them with a purpose in life of defeating Trump /conservatives at all costs. That is, it is their moral duty and purpose to do whatever it takes, legal or illegal, moral or immoral, to stop them. This gives their lives meaning and purpose, lives that have rejected acknowledging a Creator. I am convinced that elites at the CIA and DNC understand this psychological tool and have consistently deployed it.
