Yeah, and then after she woke up, they began preparing me for the fact that she was permanently brain damaged and would probably have to live the rest of her life in a nursing home. Well, obviously, that medical staff did not know the mother of my children very well. She was eventually moved to a nursing home, but after one day there I was disgusted with their gloomy attitude (they were planning a long term stay) and began looking for another. I found one that had a good reputation for care and therapy and moved her there. At this time she could not even sit without falling over. Thirteen days later and as soon as she could sit in a chair I brought her home and contracted for a home therapist and part time nurse. After much therapy she finally learned how to walk again. Now she travels all over the country with me. And nags me to no end. God how I love her. And I thank God for every day we've been together.

Your love for her is obvious in the way you relate the events; it also explains your aversion to phrases and terms that are undignified.

That is a wonderful story, and it is obvious to me that if it weren't for your faith and tenacity, the result would have been far different, as well as unspeakably
depressing. In 1998, my dad had a stroke, and the doctors told me he needed to be in a home. Instead, I moved him in with me, and arranged for the requisite follow up care needed for at least a marginal recovery. Well, one year later, he was finishing a novel, hiking in the mountains, and walking on the beach 2 miles a day. Lucid and fit as anyone could ever hope for.. He died in Jan 02, and I am convinced he would never have lived past the first year in a home.
Back to Miss Shiavo. I strongly disagree with Prout on this, and his descriptive verbiage needs much to be admired, but I don't think it was said with malice. If you allow him to return after a suitable respite, WE will let him know to be more careful in the future.(Verily, I doubt this is lost on him at this moment) I have doctor friends and I have heard them use words you and I would never consider using.

Best regards,
IA
