The news from NO is not good. On another site, there are arguments as to whether or not martial law has begun. There were reports of looting, but not what you'd think. Not for stereos and pawn shop stuff. Pharmacies and clothes and food. God help them and help us help them.

My thoughts are with the people in LA..their lives are being turned upside down, but those that escape with their lives will have more than Natalee, a warning and a chance to escape from a natural disaster not a man made one...

Sometimes my mind wanders and I wonder if it might have been better if Aruba was hit with a catastrophic Hurricane than the gulf coast, but I can't wish that on anyone especially since only a small group in Aruba is responsible for this mess...

Just signed on... I agree with your concern... with years of experience of working with Charities .. I can tell you that most of them are not worth the effort.. with due respect.. the Salvation Army does accomplish it mission - but does not accurately report its administrative cost.. never the less, they are the most responsible one... most of the others are screaming for money now.. frankly, they won't know what to do with it... the Red Cross has a stock pile of dollars that they can use if they are truly committed.. Remember the 9.11 fiasco?

I tend to contribute to my local church... or an affiliate in a needy community.. talk to your Priest, Minister Rabbi.. etc..

I just lost a bet with my better half... I bet that it would be at least one hour before we saw the Pres. of the Red Cross asking for money.. I lost, it was only ten minutes... Larry King had her on..

Sorry to be so negative, but I have seen so much money wasted.. so many fibs told to contributors..

By the way.. FEMA money is our money.. taxes remember?

So where is the sharp interviewer asking about his change in story ftom picking up Joran at 4 am to 11 pm..or Horan's change in stories? Why not open your hous to a search? Do they believe Joran left Natalee alone on the beach asleep or dropped her off at the HI? do they think that was the right thing to do? What is wrong with these interviewers?

Amy Bradley's case was even more difficult for her parents justche simply because she disappeared from a cruise ship. THOSE cases are pretty much impossible to solve. For one thing, you have an ever moving "crime scene"!! At least Natalee's parents know WHERE she disappeared from and WHO she was with!! The rest I know has been extremely difficult trying to get corrupt authorities to do their jobs. However, Natalee has a mother and family that have hit Aruba like a Hurricane and they will NOT let up and have let it be known that they will NEVER give up. She will turn this Island upside down and influence an election if she has to.

Survivor when Canada had a decent Government they stepped in and rescued the American hostages in Iran right out from under the Iranian noses. I long for the days when Canada had good relations with our very best neighbour. Our Tory leader Brian Mulrooney is still friends with President Bush 41 today. In fact, the Bush's attended Brian and Mila Mulrooney's daughters wedding. I know they still visit back and forth even to this day. How far this country has fallen ( *tears*)!!

No... I have worked for 20 years with charitable organizations.. published work on outcomes, cost etc...it is all in how they "count" their cost... the Salvation Army does not measure it's administrative cost with the same standard as other 501 (c)(3)s... so in essence, you cannot measure their cost on a scale.. however, as far as actually getting the work done, they are the leaders by far...
