At 46 I am just about done with a year long adult Catechism that is geared towards 8th graders and boy have I been clueless in a lot of what Jesus has given us to deal with in this world.

It is just by divine intervention that my gut instinct has got me through life. Has to be.

But unique in that they have "out-houses" at the school.

I have also wondered if due to media coverage there are copycat killers. Wish the media would not disclose the names of the killers and just call them crazy,scum of the earth, pieces of trash and tell nothing more about them. Just urge prayers and support for the victims and families. Maybe then, the killers wanting media attention will know they are not going to get much. It is just so sad, I am sick about these killings!

Most of the Amish farmers in Lancaster County use very old horse-drawn equipment. The equipment itself may be engine-powered, such as a hay bailer - but the propulsion must not be powered.

Which is why you will see Amish mainting their front yards with reel mowers and gas-powered weed-whackers - first time I saw that was in Bart Township, where this horrible event occurred.

I once suggested that all faculty and staff who legally could, should be encouraged to carry firearms. and that they be concealed, and unadvertised. that way anybody wanting to shoot up the joint wouldn't know who would shoot back.

first of all an immoral outlook - there are no scruples, nothing is taboo. Couple with with a failure to recognize others as human beings, merely props. Some of you need a little Amish education. Not all Amish believe/ live by equally strict standards. There are different degrees of acceptance of "modern" technology depending where they are in the country what sect they belong to from. I can give some insight into the Amish in Lancaster, Pa because that's where I grew up. Some of these facts may surprise you. The Amish, on the whole are smart business people. A good number do have electricity. The phones are often located at the end of the driveway in what might be mistaken for a port-a-john. They may ride in cars but after marriage may not own one. Many unmarried men of driving ng age will purchase cars for weekend use. These kids are wickedly dangerous drivers from what I've seen. Yes, they do drink and party as teenagers. There are drug problems in the community, and there have been busts in Lancaster county for Amish/Pagan motorcycle gang drug rings. The people are good natured and will interact with others who are not Amish. Though they don't have T.V.'s in there homes they are well informed through the local newspapers. Main mode of transportation is the horse and buggy, but many use scooters, rollerblades, and to a lesser extent bicycles. Pa dutch food is exceptional and will cause high degrees of weight gain in a short amount of time. Go to an Amish market if you want to experience some of the best cakes and pastries you've ever had
