Yep, I've never been aware of the Amish not owning their own land...there's much that is communal like the schools and the church itself, but a family runs its own farm and splits it up among the sons when the father passes (of course, when you have 5 sons, eventually everbody has a postage stamp and that's when 4 of the sons take off to Indiana.)

And income is income - the IRS isn't going to stop taxing farm income just because the farm is owned by a church - they're going to track that down.

The Amish own their own places. They take turns in hosting the church service in their houses but the there is no tax exemption.

They do not pay ss tax nor do they particpate in the ss system for they do not belive it is right to have insurance.
