Bare Knuckle Religious Discussion
6/25/08 | self

Posted on 06/25/2008 7:24:15 AM PDT by svcw

Just a thought.

It occurred to me that those on FR need a place to discuss religion, religious thought, denominal issues all things religious without worrying about hurt feelings or bruised egos.

This would be a bare knuckle discussion.

If you have thin skin or are easily offended it would be better not to participate.

I also think that plate passing kind of greatly hinders if not obliterates freely joyfully giving without coercion as an act of worship between the giver and God alone.

I don’t get the “born again” emphasis. Isn’t believing that Christ is the Son of God and our Redemeer the same thing?

On a serious note, I think anytime we discuss religion, we need to keep at least a subtle sense of humor about it.

The bottom line for religious discussions is that we ought to be able to agree that Jesus Christ IS the Son of God, there is Salvation in NO other Name but His, He IS Resurrected and alive forevermore, He and the Father are One (He said so!) and that He will return to this Earth just as He promised.

It is the Blood, the Blood, and nothing BUT the Blood of Jesus that Saves us and delivers us from damnation forever, into Eternal Life everlasting.

INDEED!

AND--ANY--bowing up affrontedness at satire etc. be automatically considered proof of such a thin skin that the affronted one must leave the thread! LOL.

Read the thread I linked in my #98, and then tell me my characterization is inaccurate.

Unless we're Jewish, which is a valid faith, no?

Oh it is absolutely valid, in fact the Jewish faith is the Foundation upon which Christianity is built.

Of course as Christians we just want our Jewish brothers and sisters to come on upstairs and see the rest of the House. ;)

Thanks for the ping!

I think you have a good idea, but please bear in mind there will always be “those” who aren’t happy unless everyone around them is miserable.

I guess we’ll see what happens here, won’t we? (No wonder there is so much strife in the world: most of us can’t even agree on what to buy at the store, let alone a relgious belief...)

Still, I’ll give you a hug and an “A” for bravery!

*HUG*

I believe in God the Father
Almighty Maker of Heaven and Maker of Earth
And in Jesus Christ His only begotten Son, our Lord
He was conceived by the Holy Spirit
Born of the virgin Mary
Suffered under Pontius Pilate
He was crucified and dead and buried
I believe that He who suffered was crucified, buried, and dead
He descended into hell and on the third day, rose again
He ascended into Heaven where He sits at God’s mighty right hand
I believe that He’s returning
To judge the quick and the dead of the sons of men
I believe in the Holy Spirit
One Holy Church
The communion of Saints
The forgiveness of sin
I believe in the resurrection
I believe in a life that never ends
And I believe what I believe is what makes me what I am
I did not make it, no it is making me
It is the very truth of God and not the invention of any man

LOOK UP RAISED HANDS IN SCRIPTURE!

It’s merely a way of SURRENDERING TO GOD; PRAISING GOD MORE OVERTLY, ACTIVELY;

REALLY GETTING INTO

WORSHIPPING GOD BODY, MIND AND SOUL . . .

If God deals with some people in His own way, why does it matter what anyone believes?

Can any of that be actually proven as correct, without relying on something else that cannot actually be proven?

You never saw any episodes of 'The Flip Wilson Show'?

IT CAN be distracting when one is

focusing on those around one

INSTEAD OF ON GOD EXCLUSIVELY.

You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to. I just thought I’d ask.

If God deals with some people in His own way, why does it matter what anyone believes?

I think you might have taken my comment out of context. The question posed to me dealt with 'how God deals with someone (in Africa for example) who dies without having learned of Christ Jesus' and my answer was that God would indeed, deal with that person In His Own Way, which is to say that God is a fair and just God, if someone transgresses the Law, and does not know they have transgressed, having never learned of any 'thou shalts' or 'thou shalt nots', God is certainly not going to hold them accountable for something they were ignorant of, and had not been warned of or corrected about.

Once a person has heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ, has learned of why their sin nature prevents them from ever having fellowship with Almighty God on their own merits, and is presented with that Invitation to make Jesus Christ the Lord and Saviour of their life, THEN they are held fully accountable for once they are made aware of their need to be forgiven and reconciled by the Blood of Jesus and that Blood alone, they cannot plead ignorance any longer.

Hope this clarifies what I said.
