"I HAVE GREAT HEALTH INSURANCE AND SO DOES CONGRESS."
The Edisto Joe Outlook ^ | 08/03/2009 | Edisto Joe

Posted on 08/03/2009 7:42:50 AM PDT by Edisto Joe

Those are the words of President Obama. Just how great is the health plan Congress is on? Why do they refuse to take part in their new plan for the country? There must be certain advantages that make it hard to give up. Well, let's take a look.

Among the advantages: a choice between 10 health care plans that provide access to a national network of doctors, including numerous HMOs that serve each member's state. (In comparison, 85% of private companies offering health coverage to their employees only offer one type of plan, usually the least expensive, with an option for individual or family coverage.) They also receive special treatment at Washington's federal medical facilities and, for a additional monthly fee, they have access to their own pharmacy and doctors, nurses and medical technicians in the medical office conveniently located between the House and Senate chambers. Other advantages in their coverage are: no exclusions for pre-existing conditions and no waiting periods. As soon as you are hired or begin work you're covered.

What else can we add? How about $20 dollar co-pay on office visits, $10 generic drug prescriptions, and immunizations are free. Also if they do use Walter Reed or The Naval Hospital for treatment, much of that is taxpayer subsidized. The cost? The cost for a family plan is a little over $1000 a month, of course taxpayers pay about $700 of that so their total cost for family coverage is around $300 a month. That's less than a new car payment even with the “cash for clunkers” incentive.

The plan is such a nice deal that it's offered to the estimated 8.5 million federal workers and their families. To the American taxpayer the price tag is around 15 billion yearly. Now it's easy to understand why Nancy Pelosi and Henry Waxman don't want to include themselves in any public plan they cook up for the rest of us. As a matter of fact, the Federal Plan is exempt from any reform. I love how these people look after the public interest while protecting their own.

CALL THEM TODAY AND SEE IF THEY CAN GET YOU ON THEIR PLAN! I HAVE POSTED A LINK TO ALL THEIR CONTACT INFORMATION ON "THE EDISO JOE OUTLOOK" STOP THE PLAN!

Little-know factoid in the “discussion” we are having nationally:

The Federal Employees Health Plan (FEP) is the largest national account administered by the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, enrolling about 60% of all federal employees.

Yes, private health insurance, run by so-called “villains”.

Hypocrisy = democrats.

Let the President and Ted Kennedy sign up first.
Then the rest of Congress.
Then all Federal employees.

As their boss(a taxpayer)I demand they get it first. They should have the best before I get it.

Ted needs to take care of that “End of Life” counseling on page 425, also.

The President, Congress, and the Senate along with all staffers and federal employees should all be on the same plan that is being designed by Obama. If its good enough for me it then its good enough for all of my SOCIALIST COMRADES starting with Brother Obama.

So do I which is why I don’t want them to mess with it.

This is about as bottom as the line gets, we are on the bottom, and the federal employees union with their health care plan is on top, and wouldn’t touch the public plan with an infinity pole. Looking for town hall meetings with my Congress Critters. Anyone know the meaning of FAT CHANCE?

I think the President and his family should have access to Walter Reed & Bethesda Naval Hospital. Actual memebers of Congress should, too. Congress’ families should not.

And Congressmen and Congresswomen should have to pay for their families coverage, like working Americans do.

Congressianal staff should have to pay 75% of their insurance.

The politicians (dem and rep) have set themselves up as an elite that has special privileges and doesn’t have to follow the rules that it enacts for the common herd.

And maybe it is time to audit accounts payable to see which of our illustrious representatives (term used loosely) are behind on their monthly premiums.

If I were invited to a meal at someone’s home and homeowner cooked and served me and guests but refused to eat it, I would think it must have something wrong with it:)

I was at town meeting and the congressman with the mic said the health insurance is worst than the one he had in private life.

Federal Blue Cross is a good plan but honestly, it does not rise to the level of a Cadillac plan. What makes Congress’ care great is all the perks members have that the typical federal worker does not: on-site physician and nurses, access to Bethesda Naval, etc.

You can walk into Wal-mart, Kmart, any of the big chain pharmacies and get a 3 month generic Rx filled for $12 these days. The $10 fee for Federal Blue Cross generic mail order Rx was designed to soften the blow when they raised the co-pay on brand name Rx to $65 from $35.

We still spend thousands of dollars a year on stuff Blue Cross doesnt cover. Coverage is reduced every year. That’s not to say we’re unhappy with it, just to give some perspective that benefits are getting cut from it also.

Oh, they're eating at the meal! It's just that they get the center trim of the steak, and we're left with the bones and fat. They're getting the potatoes and we're getting the peelings. They're getting the lettuce leaves and tomatoes, we're getting the lettuce core and tomato stems.

See, we're eating at the same table, it's just that Congress is eating the best of the best, and we get the scraps usually thrown away.

And all those turds in Congress get that health plan even if they are over 65. The rest of the US MUST go on to Medicare even if they liked their previous insurance

Obama also said, “This is not about me, this is about the letters I read at night from people with no health care.” I wonder what language their written in? I am sure he gets plenty that also tell him to trash can the bill...but those don’t matter. Bottom line: It’s his signature domestic program and he can’t afford to lose face with his base. The Democrats will demonize Republicans, and even their own before it’s over.
