OBAMA: HEALTH CARE DESTROYING FREE SPEECH
The Edisto Joe Outlook ^ | 09/24/2009 | Edisto Joe

(Reuters) - The White House kept insurance companies squarely in its sights Tuesday in the push for health care reform by releasing research showing that health insurance premiums have risen far faster than inflation in every U.S. State. If that research was funded by the taxpayers, (Reuters did not mention the source), then it was another waste of public funds. Who in their right mind would have thought they went down?

Apparently in the health care wars it's alright for the White House to release an official report on insurance premiums, the sole purpose of which is to discredit the industry as the villains in the debate. However, when insurance provider Humana sends out a letter to seniors warning them that they may lose Medicare benefits under the proposed plan they draw fire from the White House and end up having the HHS department investigate them for what? Speaking the truth?

Now the left has been trying to discredit Senator McConnell by noting that he receives a substantial amount of PAC money from the Health Care Industry and his “gag” order statement was a direct result of protecting his contributors. Where did they get that information? From public records. He reports his contributions as required by law and they are legal, a concept many on the left find appalling. I will also remind those on the left that Senator McConnell is a strict Constitutionalist and has a record of voting against anything that might go against it. Case in point; he took the very unpopular stance of protecting ones right to burn the flag in protest simply because he believes it to be a right under the .............McConnell may not agree with what you are saying, but he will defend your right to say it. ......... a "Joe Wilson" moment.

There is no need for health insurance premiums to stay in pace with inflation (or deflation), they only need to stay in sync with health care costs.

This is such a sorry ass confused debate.

It’s very nice to say prices have gone up and isn’t that a shame.

It’s quite another thing to say you will control costs by cutting out all the “unnecessary” health care we’ve been receiving, eliminating all that “unnecessary” expensive technology, and cutting back health care from the elderly who need it most.

In fact it’s quite insane.

Yes the attack on the health care industry in conjunction with attacks on other sectors is just going to destroy the economy.

We already have attacks on energy companies, on Wall Street, on Multi nationals, on health care.

It’s all a crazy left wing attack on anything making “evil” profits.

Profits are a good thing. So are corporate jets, for that matter.

The Health Care issue is THE biggest communist takeover this country has ever seen. If it doesn't die due to TEA Party and/or 9/12 Project efforts and such, it CAN die due to States' nullification.

Some state Governor is going to have to decide between his political career and the US Constitution...I'm thinking Texas or New Hampshire. Once that happens, which we all should encourage, DC is in BIG trouble.

No, DC won't order the military to fire on their own families. DC simply won't do it. If DC even tried, there would be massive defections - they know this. No, there won't be another "civil war". This is not the 1800's.

However, if DC keeps pushing, there may be another Revolutionary War. The States will start it...as they did back when. It probably won't be a fighting war (although I've said contrary on other posts), but more a nullification of Fedgov unConstitutional laws and regulations.

Our best chance of peaceful Constitutional restoration is with the "individual States" rights. Encourage your State Governor to stand up against the Federal leviathan.

Sorry, but I live in Maryland. My Governor has his head so far up Obama’s butt that if Obama turned he would break O’Malley ‘s neck.

All of these Health Care Reform bills are anti-liberty.

Health Care Reform (HCR) is a direct assault on individual liberties. I think that is its main purpose.

HCR is not just about rationing and wealth redistribution. It's about the end of all individual rights as the corrosive effects of the new collectivist basic human right to health care spreads throughout the legal and political system like a virus.

Congressman Anthony Weiner says that health care is not a commodity. If health care is not a commodity then doctors and nurses are not free and sovereign citizens. If health care is a right then health care workers are slaves to that right who must serve it. No health care worker could refuse to provide their services, for any reason, because that would violate the patient's basic human right to health care.

That means that health care providers have no individual rights. The collective right of the people to receive health care would supersede the provider's individual right to set their fees, their hours or change their occupational status or even decide how to apply their skills and knowledge. A collective right, by practical definition, is a state right because it is a right that is provided by the government to all not protected by the government as something possessed by each person. It is also a state right because it supersedes the individual rights of others when the two come into conflict.

It isn't stated in any of the bills that a patient's rights to care supersedes a provider's right to set fees and hours etc, but it doesn't need to. Rights are always adjudicated in the courts. The legislation simply establishes the foundation for the courts to rule in favor of the patient's collective right to health care.

Weiner’s view is collectivist, fascist and totalitarian. Collectivist because it is superior to an individual right. Fascist because it is overseen by one entity the Federal government. Totalitarian because the Federal government is the true possessor of this collective right and the administrator and enforcer of it as well.

Congressman Weiner's view is the underlying philosophy of the entire Health Care Reform legislation the House and Senate have put forth. Consider the setting up of community watch dogs to monitor various health parameters of citizens in the Senate version of the bill. Look at pages 382 - 393.

TITLE I—QUALITY, AFFORDABLE HEALTH CARE FOR ALL AMERICANS

Even the citizens themselves will be subject to state set regulations on their behavior in order to fulfill the human right of universal health care. It isn't the individual's liberty that is being protected by that it is the state's control over its health care system that is being guarded. How much clearer can it be that these bills abrogate the concept of individual rights?
