Ryan is a good man, but does not redeem the abortionist/homosexualist statist Romney
Aug 11, 2012 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 08/11/2012 4:42:48 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

Except for his unfortunate go along to get along support of TARP, bailouts, stimulus spending and the increased credit limit, etc, Ryan is a pretty good choice. Probably the best choice of the RINOS that were on Romney's short list. I support Ryan for the vice presidency. Wish he were at the top of the ticket, though.

But I still cannot and will not support the grand father of ObamaCare. Romney still loves and brags about his bastard brainchild, RomneyCare, even today when he knows what an anti-liberty socialist POS it is.

And the fact that he advocated that abortion should be safe and legal in America for over three decades of his adult lifetime and even advocated that Roe v Wade should be supported and sustained as settled law precludes any consideration whatsoever by this pro-life Christian for Myth Romney for the presidency.

And the fact that he boasted that he would be better for "gay rights" than Ted Kennedy, and proved it just increases my resistance.

That, and his penchant for gun control, his continuing support for global warming, gays in the scouts, gays in the military, and his record of appointing liberal judges makes it all but impossible for me to support him.

Lastly, we're having a bit of changeover on our moderator staff. At least two moderators resigned this afternoon after I flatly refused to rein in a so-called anti-Mormon "bigot" on FR. Well, if being in opposition to false prophets and false prophecy makes a Christian believer a bigot, then I guess I'm a bigot. I've posted before that I flat do not believe that the Book of Mormon is the true word of God. Nor do I believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. The Christian bible warns us to be weary of false prophets and that I am. Romney being the presumptive Republican nominee does not change that fact.

Personally, my preference is not to offend anyone over faith, either, but Jesus inserts Himself here for the benefit of you, and possibly others.

***Pertinent quote from CS Lewis

From C.S. Lewis:
“I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: “I’m ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don’t accept His claim to be God.” That is the one thing we must not say. A man who said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic — on a level with the man who says he is a poached egg — or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.”

That article is full of mythology about the historicity of Jesus. You have some reading to do in order to unlearn the biased approach to history that you may have embraced.

The Christian “Old Testament” is not the true word of G-d as it was told directly to Moses. Only the Torah is. Jews haven’t changed the Tanakh in thousands of years. You should probably read Torah and you’ll see a big difference.
***Useless advice when you don’t point to where I can read it. The New Testament bible is all over the web, in dozens of translations.

Deut 13:1 Be careful to observe only that which I enjoin upon you: neither add to it nor take away from it.
***Then I gather you are accusing Christians of ‘adding’ to it, much as the mormons ‘add’ to the new testament. And this would be a legitimate complaint, if Jesus were not the Messiah and God Himself. So, once again I ask you to focus on that aspect of history.

Kevmo:
Plus, while we’re at it, when are you going to acknowledge the historical claims of Jesus as Messiah and G-d Himself?

SF:
Deut 13:2-5 If there appears among you a prophet or a dream-diviner and he gives you a sign or a portent, saying, “Let us follow and worship another g-d” — whom you have not experienced — even if the sign or portent that he named to you comes true, do not heed the words of that prophet or that dream-diviner. For the LORD your G-d is testing you to see whether you really love the LORD your G-d with all your heart and soul.
***Oh, very good. I love that passage. However, Jesus does not tell us to follow another g-d, he tells us to follow Jehovah with all our hearts. That is whom we HAVE experienced. So all you need to answer is: Is Jesus God? Is He Jehovah? He certainly CLAIMED it, even as you acknowledge here. And He was rightfully put to death for that claim, if He was NOT God. All you need to prove is that Jesus was NOT God Himself.

Follow none but the LORD you G-d, and revere none but Him; observe His commandments alone, and heed only His orders; worship non but Him, and hold fast to Him.
***On this, we can agree. If Jesus is God, He fulfills the old testament law and paid for our sins and deserves our worship. If He is Not God, then he’s just one among many who claimed to be messiah and he blasphemed by claiming equality with God & was rightully put to death for blasphemy. So the issue presented to you is, how do you examine whether or not Jesus was actually God? How do you check into the historicity behind the claims of christ? You’ve expressed a curiosity about the ‘new testament’ — there is a reason for that. God wants you to examine these claims. Honestly.

“Romney has no interests outside of Mormonism, that is why although he is a career politician, no one knows what his politics are, what his political interests are, or why he has spent 20 years running for office.”

To take the simplest explanation, I’d say the reason he has been in politics for 20 years (and his interest outside Mormonism) is that he enjoys the personal gain derived from political power.

These kinds of politicians can be used to advance the political interests of of any group which at the time of his election has a powerful momentum among the general populace.

In that 20 years, he only held office for 4, and he couldn’t run for reelection (although he said that he wanted to), because he only had a 34% approval rating.

Yet you are very much a believer in him (in the abstract).

If I understand you, you think that regardless of everything that we have exposed about him to you for the last 6 to 7 years and how he is a lefty at heart, that you believe that he is really a bowl of nothing, that will lean in which ever direction that he senses the most pressure from.

You know that means leaning to the left, the media, the usual forces that push everyone to the left of where they started, and never to the right.

*””These kinds of politicians can be used to advance the political interests of of any group which at the time of his election has a powerful momentum among the general populace.””*

My guess is that this is the first time in your life, that you have had to reach so deep to make yourself able to support a candidate.

Forgive my intrusion here. The question is strictly intellectual: To whom is the Lord speaking in Psalm 110?

“The Lord said to my Lord, sit at my right hand, till I make your enemies your footstool.”

So even that website acknowledges that what we call the Old Testament is the same as your Tanakh.

But the word “torah” can also be used to refer to the entire Jewish bible (the body of scripture known to non-Jews as the Old Testament and to Jews as the Tanakh or Written Torah),

That means I have read through your Torah, as I said. Have you read through the New Testament?

Let’s get something straight.

If I find myself being forced to march in single file toward some desolate labor camp, or some contemporary version of a gas chamber specially designed by the leftists/globalists to accomodate Tea-minded individuals—I’m gonna be that guy (who always seems to disappoint us in Hollywood versions) suddenly breaking free from the line and making a mad dash toward the nearest guard, promptly disarming him while spilling the life blood from his vital arteries and then shooting all other guards in sight.

I just don’t think we’re even close to that scenario yet, and I don’t think Romney will be the one to take us there. That’s all I’m trying to say.

G-d doesn’t take human form. EVER.
***What about when he wrestled with Jacob?

When you say that God DOES NOT take human form, where is that stated in the Torah?

You acknowledge that Jesus DID claim to be God, taking human form and saying as much before the sanhedrin. That would mean that if we are wrong, we are 1)most to be pitied, as it says in Paul’s writings at some point 2) we’re committing simple blasphemy.

Supposing that we are committing simple blasphemy, what is the provision for jews to bring christians who acknowledge the errors of their ways? Why haven’t I heard about such efforts? You’ve been on that other thread where JewsForJesus is active, so I know that you’re aware of efforts to bring jews into the christian fold as they become aware. Why such an absence of jewish effort, when there is so rich a field of prospects?

How do you account for the centuries of answered prayers (including mine) when we christians pray to Jesus as God?

It is likely that there are going to be other Freepers, more knowledgeable than I, who have more piercing questions. Are you going to avoid them?

Why did you take so long to finally come to grips with the fact that Jesus claimed to be God Himself? And why the vitriol in the process? It doesn’t add up.
