I couldn’t even see civil unions, unless perhaps they want to be open to the idea of unions of such things as three men, one woman, and a greyhound dog. (Being a little sardonic there.) States have good enough reason to honor the existing age-old society-wide institution of marriage, but should never be used as the roots of establishing whole new arrangement. Things were going to hell in a handbasket with that, let alone the modern gay marriage.

HiTech..... I believe that marriage is an established tradition between a man and woman. Our Nation established precedence by given various benefits to those that marry, but more importantly, it was to known as spiritual union of a man and woman, a tradition that should be held dear and true. However, whatever legal benefits that are established for those that marry, so should those same benefits be extended to any two people who join each other for a lifetime commitment, regardless of sex and sexual preference.

Again, freedom and EQUAL rights for all means we don’t exclude someone because of the race, color, creed, national origin, sexual preference, etc. Special interests group were given life out of intolerance. Let’s be more intolerant of those politicians that waste our money; intolerant of those that break the law, especially quality of life crimes (murder, rape, drugs, etc). If Johnny and Patrick are able to have a Civil Union, it has zero impact on my life, but if they go out and murder, rape, or sell drugs, they clearly impact us all.

Again, what issues are the real important ones?
