I get flamed for pointing out that professional sports is crony capitalism. They build stadiums with taxpayer money, and throw tantrums and leave town if they don’t get their way.

It’s all part of the bread-and-circus mentality in this country.
Expand the dole without limit, give the plebes big stadiums to watch millionaires toss a ball around, and everyone is happy, and there’s no need to pay much attention to any of the behind-the-scene details.
A disturbing number of people, who are otherwise conservative, including influential talk-show hosts, turn a blind eye to this professional sports scam, and somehow consider it to be conservative to be professional sports fans, and even admirers of the team owners who extort taxpayer money.
