I am 67 years old, and I still remember the great time I had playing tackle football with my buddies, and viewing the introduction of soccer as a sport for those who were too pussified to play real football.
Went out to eat with the family Saturday night. Restaurant had a dozen or so TVs going. Half with golf, half with soccer.
Golf seemed like a rollicking, riotous, outrageous good time compared to the soccer snoozefest.
Globalists love to make Americans think we like soccer. Then, the USA will blend in the rest of the world and cease being so darn exceptional.

I don’t watch soccer because it reminds me too much of my love life during high school; a lot of chasing, elevated heart rate, lots of sweating…very little scoring.
A friend of mine describes soccer as, “A sport for all the homosexuals that don’t have the hand-eye coordination to play badminton.”
Cool! You just reminded me. We don’t have cable, only Over The Air. Works out fine in the Big City. Anyway, since we don’t have cable, we don’t have ESPN. But your little rant reminded me that we do have Univision, the Spanish station which carries the World Cup games over the air. So I can watch the World Cup games for free!

Why would you care? The cup is once every 4 years. Just don’t watch. Same with the WNBA. It’s a joke. Accordingly I don’t watch it. Like it or not, millions of people play soccer in the US. I don’t. I don’t particularly like it. But I can understand why people make a big deal out of the World Cup.
I played rugby for 20 years. Love the rugby World Cup. Not too many people in the US care about rugby either. But I’m glad I get to watch those World Cup games every 4 years. Why anyone would bitch about it is beyond me.
Google doodles on soccer are as irritating as can be. How long is soccer season so I can avoid google for that amount of time at least.

I am glad that men can earn money playing professional soccer and that women can earn money playing pro hoops. Just don’t ask or expect me to watch it.
I’m watching it right now, I know nothing about it but it seems way better than WNBA. I mean come on, WNBA is neck in neck with the jewelry shopping network or those celebrity wife swap swamp logger drek.

One thing I am really digging is the lack of commercial breaks. One thing I am not digging is the ball going out of bounds or whatever it is called. Also the floppage.
The USA just added another goal. I don’t like all the celebration afterwards, but at least it doesn’t happen all the time over nothing like in the NFL.

It is silly to get into a debate about whether or not someone should watch soccer on TV.
As a collegiate sports photographer I put soccer into the category as baseball. There is nothing better than a good game. There is nothing worse than a bad one.
But I think being at field level is the only way to watch it. The game on TV is almost unwatchable.
I guess the 100 million or so people around the world who love the sport must not have your level of sophistication. Jeez, what a buncha rubes, huh?
