At the small resort we stayed in Tela Mar, there was an outdoor bar that had a 32 inch TV and the seats were jam packed with Hondurans watching every single game that was being televised..........

Nothing wrong with that. A soccer game at a local sports bar is a good way to bond with the locals and see what the people are like.
Not a dream vacation by any means and certainly not on one's "bucket list" as you succintly put it.
Nevertheless, it was a unique experience that I cherish and was able to share with not only my family here but the Hondurans we vacationed with who are an extended family of mine........
