Yes, Ted Cruz Did Support ‘Amnesty’ for Illegal Immigrants
Bold ^ | Matthew Sheffield

Posted on 12/17/2015 7:03:30 PM PST by RatherBiased.com

The Cruz presidential campaign is now claiming that the senator's attempted amendments and statements were only designed to be so-called "poison pills," a legislative trick designed to get supporters of a bill to vote against it. That was also the line Cruz took in an interview yesterday with Fox News anchor Bret Baier.

But that does not square with the fact that weeks after the legislation failed in the House, Cruz was still talking up how he wanted to grant permanent resident status to illegal immigrants in an interview with the Texas Tribune in September:

Immigration-reform legislation from the Senate's so-called Gang of Eight passed that chamber in June and includes a 13-year path to citizenship. Cruz pushed unsuccessfully for amendments that would have, among other things, eliminated the citizenship component.

Asked about what to do with the people here illegally, however, he stressed that he had never tried to undo the goal of allowing them to stay.

"The amendment that I introduced removed the path to citizenship, but it did not change the underlying work permit from the Gang of Eight," he said during a recent visit to El Paso. Cruz also noted that he had not called for deportation or, as Mitt Romney famously advocated, self-deportation.

Cruz said recent polling indicated that people outside Washington support some reform, including legal status without citizenship. He said he was against naturalization because it rewarded lawbreakers and was unfair to legal immigrants. It also perpetuates illegal crossings, he added.

Besides barring citizenship while instituting some level of legalization for those here already, Cruz has proposed increasing the number of green cards awarded annually, to 1.35 million from 675,000.

I don’t care. I will not vote for another 1 term Senator. Christie was right. All those two did was fight about policy which does not get a thing done. Our country needs to get things done. By they time Cruz or Rubio got things done, we’d all be dead.

Don’t even go there. Reagan was a Republican long, long before he run for president, and had already served two terms as the Republican governor of California before that. It’s not even close to being the same as Trump, who only just joined the Republican Party so he can run for president with a lifelong liberal record as long as your arm.

Funny. Rubio is trying to say Cruz supported his amnesty bill and then attack him for it.

This generation of politicians are dumber than a box of rocks.

Ted Cruz did say he support the gang of 8 bill if they would add a provision that would bar those granted amnesty from voting for 25 years. He only did it to prove the point that amnesty was all about creating millions of new registered Democrats. He was right the Democrats shot down his provision.>>>
not sure and i could be wrong but Ted stripped the citizen provision. Rush had the 25 year deal in his radio proposal — not really a legislative proposal unless rush is now in congress somewhere.

Jeez, even in the wee hours of the morning you still type out lies. Life long dem? You sure about that sport?

The Trump haters here are such fibbers, it’s laughable.

So, did Cruz finally state without a doubt that he is 100% against amnesty? Or are we still in the ‘not intend’ stage of this game?

What party was Donald Truman registered as from
AUGUST 2001 to SEPTEMBER 2009? Democrat.
When was his latest registration as a Republican? April 2012 cause he wanted to run for president as a Republican, cause no one was going to beat Hilary Clinton in the Democratic Party.

Jeez, even in the wee hours of the morning you still type out lies.

Don't make me laugh. Biggest liars on the planet are the Trumpbots.

Life long dem? You sure about that sport?

Now why don't you show me where I said that in my post, honey?
Who is lying even in the face of written evidence now?

‘honey’? Really?

Lame

I question why I bothered to engage with you at all. You haters are really unhinged, and so full of vile comments that you can’t even see the damage you are doing to your beloved Cruz. You all are beginning to sound like the paulbots, you all chant in unison!

Listen, empty head, I will cut and paste my comment from my post # 104:

Where do I say Trump was a lifelong Democrat?

Ok I changed the way I address you to “empty head” which seems more appropriate for you. Now why don’t you answer the question in # 111?

Are you also calling Jeff Sessions, Rush Limbuagh, and Mark Levin Trump hating fibbers too? Just wondering.....

You know, when debating politics, and the opponent throws out the word “hater”, I automatically deduct 50 IQ points form their intelligence.

“Read the article. He supported legalization long after the bill. Even this year. His own spokeswoman admitted it in March.”

Man, you are really stretching things. He supported some form of legalization, including work permits. He did not support naturalization.

Even Trump’s plan does the same. Remember, it has the “Big Beautiful Door” in the wall for immigrants that are good people?

This is a pathetic attack on Cruz.

One question. Did you vote for the ultimate flipper, Mitt romney?

Your answer will determine your judgement and your integrity RE Cruz on ‘flip flopping of course.

So fess up.

On Cruz' official Senate web site-----Cruz posted on his Immigration page what he apparently considers to be his accomplishments:

CRUZ WEB SITE: In 2013, Sen. Cruz proposed amendments to the "Gang of 8" bill that would strengthen border security, expand green card opportunities, increase high-skilled "H1B" visas, prevent illegal aliens from receiving welfare benefits, and enforce the rule of law.

Thus the confusion is perpetuated..... even after the bill died, when he had the opportunity, he did not identify his amendment as a "poison pill."

Cruz glaringly omitted his current stance....that he was bluffing.

Sigh - still doing the work the Left is incapable of doing. Putting any of your money where your mouth is these days? Inquiring minds want to know if all you have to offer is piles of crap. If that hurt your feelings, I apologize - I try not to pick on emotionally crippled social misfits but don't know how to avoid them all the time.

Now for a short public service announcement to all on FR:
We need to ensure we don't get another Obama-like America Hater as the next President.
The best way to ensure that is to actively support a candidate as the next President.
I prefer Cruz and my money goes to his campaign, hence the Cruz link. If you like someone else, donate to him/her (find your own link to do it) and if you use FR and don't donate, then please don't complain about the welfare leeches or those who have Obama Phones because, functionally, you are no different than any other FReeloader

PS - If you are one of those who cannot afford even a small donation to FR or a candidate, God Bless and happy FReeping!.....

GO CRUZ!! Keep it up Trump!!

Donate to FR

Donate to Cruz

Donate to FR
