Former President Donald Trump’s campaign was forced to walk back a claim that he purchased a Glock pistol at a South Carolina gun shop on Monday amid questions about the legality of such a purchase considering he has been charged with numerous felonies in multiple cases.

“President Trump buys a [Glock] in South Carolina!” Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung posted on X Monday afternoon, including video of the former president at the Palmetto State Armory in Summerville holding a Glock and saying, “Wow.”

“I’ve got to buy one. I want to buy one,” Trump said in the video.

Cheung, who later deleted the X post, told Fox News Digital, “President Trump did not purchase or take possession of the firearm. He simply indicated that he wanted one.”

Stephen Gutowski, a firearms expert and founder of The Reload, took to X, arguing it would be a crime for Trump to buy a Glock “because he’s under felony indictment.” …

Maybe, but I would parse that differently.

You mean there’s not a single licensed gun store in South Carolina, that sells and ships firearms to purchasers living out of state through a website or whatever? Of course, it has to be transferred to licensed dealer in the state of the purchaser’s residence.

I thought you can as long as long as it ships through a FFL dealer in your home state

Yep - and in many states anyone can use those “red flag” laws to have all of your guns taken away from you.

Unconstitutional, just like I thought.

Well, South Carolina’s laws can’t be enforced outside of South Carolina. Only people who are IN South Carolina are subject to South Carolina’s jurisdiction.

“Take the guns first, go through due process second,” - President Trump.

I'll still vote for him and work to see him elected if he's the nominee, but I ain't pretending that he didn't say that.

Nope. That’s up to the state where the person is.

More out of context; talking about Parkland FL and how nobody did anything about Nikolas Cruz until it was too late, while also commenting about the “due process” instituted by the left bogging down the means of taking action. On top of that, Pence was citing California law that really slowed down “due process”. Should Trump have put greater emphasis on due process? Absolutely, where it comes at the expense of taking action.

During the same conference, Trump also advocated getting rid of gun-free zones.

Melania should start a huge arsenal to troll the tyrants.

Reminds of G Gordon Liddy bragging about how well armed his wife was.

He can purchase a gun in South Carolina. It just needs to be shipped to a dealer in Florida. Of course the laws that force this need to ship a gun to another state are clearly unconstitutional but then again, the constitition really no longer exists.

You can purchase a gun in another state, but the dealer has to ship the firearm to a registered gun dealer in your home state. That dealer will have to complete the transaction under the home state’s laws.

More than that. The supreme law of the land is the Constitution, but by not citing it you seem to countenance usurpers and tyrants.

It was reported by several outlets he purchased the gun which was a lie. He never purchased it.

His campaign didn’t walk anything back. They said he never bought the gun as reported by some.

“President Trump purchases a @GLOCKInc in South Carolina!” said Trump campaign spokesperson, Steven Cheung. It was Trump and his campaign doing the pandering and got caught in their ignorance. Trump doesn’t even like guns.
