And one last bit of anti-Maryland ranting that was stuck in my brain from the time I lived in the PRM.

Maryland has a special bit of statutory law on the forfeiture of any handguns that the police take away.

http://mlis.state.md.us/1997rs/bills/hb/hb0117f.rtf

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
19 MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

  20 Article 27 - Crimes and Punishments

  21 36C.

22 (a) The following items of property shall be subject to seizure and forfeiture, and,
23 upon forfeiture, no property right shall exist in them:

24 (1) Any handgun being worn, carried, or transported in violation of § 36B of
  25 this article; and

26 (2) All ammunition or other parts of or appurtenances to any such handgun
27 worn, carried, or transported by such person or found in the immediate vicinity of such
  28 handgun.

2

1 (d) (1) Whenever property is forfeited under this section, the law enforcement
2 agency seeking forfeiture of the property may:

3 (i) Order the property retained for the official use of the law
   4 enforcement agency; [or]

5 (ii) [Make such other disposition of the property as the law
6 enforcement agency deems appropriate] DESTROY THE FORFEITED PROPERTY; OR

7 (III) SELL THE FORFEITED PROPERTY TO:

8 1. ANOTHER LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY FOR OFFICIAL
9 USE BY THE PURCHASING AGENCY; OR

  10 2. A LICENSED FIREARMS DEALER.

11 (2) Within 30 days of the disposition of the forfeited property, the law
12 enforcement agency shall notify the Secretary of the State Police of:

  13  			(i) The description of the property forfeited;

  14  			(ii) The type of disposition made;

15 (iii) The identity of the person to whom the property was transferred
16 for disposal, retention, or resale; and

17 (iv) If the person was a licensed firearms dealer, the firearms dealer's
  18 license number and address.

You can bet that such false tips will be investigated and prosecuted to the MAX, way beyond stealing nuclear secrets.

I read #56 and were such a program instituted nationally I would have to give a quick yell of "Firw in the hole." I would be exploding. One of the limits on violence against the Gestapo tactics of some states is the simple fact that other states do not yet have such tactics being employed. There is still the opportunity to avoid violence by moving. The simple fact is most of us do not look forward to CWII and it has to get beyond what is tolerable just about everywhere before the action will be taken.

The people on the front line are in Maryland, California, Massachusettes, New York, Illinois, and New Jersey. The explosion will come when this spreads to other states.

Almost unbelievable, isn't it?

But if the "frogs" in the pots in the states you have menitioned have gotten used to the slowly increasing water temperature, why do you think the same will not happen in all 50 states, overall?

Won't 99% of gun owners roll along with the Stasi prgram, and relegate the 1% to the scorned fringe, holding 99% of that 1% in "social check?"

The frogs in the pots in the stasi states are angry but they are unwilling to make that jump to violence when an alternative such as moving or storing firearms out of state exist. There were three counties listed as having TAG operations. They have not impacted enogh people yet to really get their attention and the alternative is still there. The fact is the people who would take actionare going to delay action as long as possible.

The temperature of the water is not rising evenly and they understand that they still have an escape that is viable. The frontier kept the pressure off the East Coast during the massive imigration waves of the 18th Century. The South and West provide such a relief valve for the gun grabboid states.

I really do not know where the point of change is. If one looks at the American Revolution in 1772 independence was not gennerally cosidered to be a viable option but by 1775 the war had started.

If you are found with a firearm in a state park or national park, it will be confiscated.
