Vanity Question-Looking For Article About Criticism of Tsunami Relief

A couple days after the earthquake and tsunami hit in Asia an article appeared about a protest in I believe one of the Scandinavian countries over that country's lack of response. I have looked all over for it to no avail. In the article they reported protests because the Prime Minister went to the theater the night of the disaster instead of organizing relief efforts for their citizens. It may well be Sweden I am thinking of but my search is not turning up the article. Does anyone remember this piece and if so can you help me find it.

I am in a furious debate with a liberal about how the US is the only country to not respond quickly with humanitarian aid. I am sick to tears with the Bush bashing over this topic and would like to shut them up. If someone has a good one about our beloved head of the UN being on vacation that would be welcome to. Thanks so much!

You are quite right. The Swedes are furious with the inept handling of the crisis by our government. It wasn't the PM but the FM that went to the theatre 12 h after the crisis had started after telling the media that all Swedish tourists in the area were safe. (At the moment 3500 are missing!)

I don't know which thread you were thinking of but try this one (see my comment #16):

A bit off topic, but I was watching CNN early this morning (5:15AM EST) and they had the CNN International crew manning the airwaves.

It was a panel of three Euros, two were frantically trying to support the notion of "greedy America" through both subtle and overt arguments. It was truly pathetic.

The third guy was a Euro hipster of the Chris Hitchens sort, and he showed nothing but visible disdain for his "colleagues" during most of the broadcast.
