Seems that the likes of Jesse Jackson and Maxine Waters are all bent out of shape because many African Americans wont be moving back to New Orleans. Now help me to understand this...the poverty rate in New Orleans was about 27 % and Jesse Jackson wants African Americans to stay there? One has to wonder what the motivation behind those who desire.....

I heard on a local NO radio station (I should say THE local NO radio station since there's only one now which is calling itself United Radio Broadcasters) this morning that Nagin is disappointed that so few people returned yesterday. They said he's sounding desparate in trying to convince people to return.

Further, of the people who did return, it seems that many discovered houses full of maggots and mold and decided to just leave, never to return.

I don't think I would want to come back and live there either. I do not blame people for wanting to move on. It must be disheartening to find homes you have lived/raised families in, in this condition.

I don't think it was the maggots and the mold that kept them from moving back.If it was me I'd be more conserned about living 10 feet below sea level on a flood plain in an area that had been hit by two hurricanes in less than a month,in an area prone to hurricanes.I can't imagine rebuilding with that on my mind. They should just save the important historic places and let the rest revert to flood plain.

The real question is why are so many black people living in poverty in a state run by democrates?

Oh, don't get me wrong. I agree with you whole heartedly. I guess what I meant was for those who might of had nicer homes and had been there forever, it must have been a little hard to see your home in that condition.
