McCain cuts deal with delegates to hand WV victory to Huckabee

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee enjoys the first victory on Super Tuesday for the Republicans as he takes all 18 delegates in the state of West Virginia, winning 52% of the vote, although rumors abound regarding the McCain campaign's possible instruction to their delegates to switch to his side.

Mitt Romney finished second with 47% of the vote, followed by McCain at 1%.

Rumors are circulating that the McCain campaign instructed their delegates to defect over to Mike Huckabee's side as to avoid a Romney victory. Nationally, McCain is significantly ahead of Huckabee and can afford giving the state's 18 delegates to Huckabee, but certainly not to Romney, who was originally in the lead when polling began in West Virginia by a wide margin and trails McCain nationally by only 17 delegates.

What I find interesting is that none of the McCain delegates had the spine to stand up to this.....If it were me (and I do not support McCain), no matter who I voted for, I would not have sunk so low as to allow them to alter my vote.....

Looks like there's no difference between McCain and his supporters.

McCain was in third place first vote. Romney was first Huckabee second, McCain third. McCain voters didn’t even try to win second vote, they just switched to Huckabee, now don’t that just beat all get out.

Not elected yet, hell not even nominated yet, and he’s already teaming with an opponent to screw another opponent. I am convinced that his demonstrated willingness to use opponents, sometimes enemies, to get his way is a core personality defect in this man.

I do not detract from his service to our country. Beyond that though I don’t see a single positive attribute that would recommend him for the highest office, and strongest position, in the free world.

When the chips are down his reaction seems to be to find an opponent or an enemy he can side with to improve his position overall.

He reminds me of a character that would have been in the Wizard of Id!

I will vote for Obama or Clinton if McCain is the nominee. I think conservatives should send a strong message to the GOP that if they don’t have conservatives with them; they will not win the Presidency. I am a conservative first and a Republican 2nd...and if McCain is President there will not be any spunk left in Congress to go against this corrupt and evil man.

I’m shocked to see that hardcore politics is being played out in West Virginia. [/sarc]

The whole point in this is that Huck has been loudly proclaiming that he is NOT in the pocket of McCain...and that he is NOT out to help McCain...but this supposed man of God has been promised something...VP??? If Huckster believes McCain, he’s a bigger fool than we thought. McCain will offer the VP to someone who will help him with conservatives...and Huck just screwed that

No, no, you’ve got the wrong guy.

McCain + Soreloserman = global warning regulations on American businesses.

McCain + Feingold = Destruction of 1st Amendment.

McCain + Kennedy = open borders and the destruction of American values.

Again.. this is POLITICS...no whining...

That attitude would've meant Gore would've stolen the presidency in 2000. Thank God Bush is a fighter.

Gee, could it be that McCain has promised him a role in his administration, or, even if he hasn’t, that the Huckster expects a prid pro quo for his weasel-like actions?

I'm starting to think McCrazy has been promised a spot in hillarys adninistration.

I’m with you, buddy. Why vote for the Republican who acts like a Democrat if you can just vote for the Democrat?

At this point, I’m willing to vote for the Pope because I hate McCain that badly.

I’m sorry but what proof do you have that Huck “has been paid off”...

One has to be blind to believe that he is staying in the race because he thinks he has a legitimate chance. Maybe he's really that dumb, but I don't think so.

Huckabee has been doing well in several of the southern states so far and could very well pull in a decent number of delegates tonight..

Of course he could pull in a decent number of delegates. As a matter of fact, that's probably part of the plan--anything to keep Romney from getting the delegates.

Huckabee has done everything in this race on his own..he hasnt had to rely on talk radio to prop him up ala Romney..

He's not doing this on his own. What about the MSM? He's been propped up by the MSM from the beginning because they were perfectly content to risk him as the nominee.

Huckabee hasn’t had to reinvent himself ala Romney about core conservative issues.

Where have you been? Have you paid any attention to his record and how he says one thing and then the other? The guy is a deceiver. All his positions except for abortion and marriage are liberal positions, in spite of what he has said lately. Now, all he's doing to defending McCain. What is his price?

Would a movement conservative be pro choice, pro-gay marriage, pass goverment run health are, and publically state that he “was an independent during the time of Reagan/Bush” as Romney did?

Huck wants govt. run health care and he's a lousy Republican.

Huckabee is most certainly a legitimate candidate..He’s come from out of nowhere to be a player in this race...

He's be no where if it weren't for the MSM. He's still be in Arkansas.
