McCain cuts deal with delegates to hand WV victory to Huckabee

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee enjoys the first victory on Super Tuesday for the Republicans as he takes all 18 delegates in the state of West Virginia, winning 52% of the vote, although rumors abound regarding the McCain campaign's possible instruction to their delegates to switch to his side.

Mitt Romney finished second with 47% of the vote, followed by McCain at 1%.

Rumors are circulating that the McCain campaign instructed their delegates to defect over to Mike Huckabee's side as to avoid a Romney victory. Nationally, McCain is significantly ahead of Huckabee and can afford giving the state's 18 delegates to Huckabee, but certainly not to Romney, who was originally in the lead when polling began in West Virginia by a wide margin and trails McCain nationally by only 17 delegates.

A political prostitute.

Now I'll vote for Hillary before I'd vote for McCain--or Huckabee.

“I’m not missing anything. Your boy got played. How is he going to face down the Chinese or the Mullahs if he gets outmaneuvered by Gomer Pyle?”

Alright. You claim you’re not missing something. Then tell us how you would have maneuvered if you were Romney.

And if you can’t come up with an answer, yes, you’re clearly missing something. And I’d start with reason.

Swindled? Somehow you determine that Slick Willard was entitled to those votes? That they were taken from him?

That’s rich.

You have to understand something: people have a hard time liking Slick Willard. Here’s an example of 60% choosing to vote against him.

True to the Prime Directive, though, you did slap another insult in there, didn’t you? Don’t think I missed it.

i do not care about the Romney campaign. i am talking about those of us, who have been at your side up until now in this ordeal, who have cast our lot in with Romney thinking that he is the only hope to save us from McCain. just think about us when you do your gloating, ok? realize that, by and large, freepers are heartsick over the way this is working, so the crowing over pettiness wears thin. of course you don’t have to, i just thought i’d say something based on our past association, that’s all.

“Swindled? Somehow you determine that Slick Willard was entitled to those votes? That they were taken from him?”

The plurality of the people in West Virginia who cast votes in West Virginia voted for Mitt Romney. Those who didn’t were given no second choices. Instead, two candidates teamed up on Romney and won an election through dirty politics.

And no, I don’t have to understand anything. I have no interest in the horse manure you’re shoveling. Somewhere in that twisted mind of yours that kind of deal is honorable and acceptable. But that sort of mind places very little interest in the will of the people.

“What happened in West Virginia was as far a cry from democracy as I’ve seen.”

If that is how the Republican party chooses their candidate or awards delegates then that is their right. If they feel they were slighted, they should work to change it.

The plurality of the people in West Virginia who cast votes in West Virginia voted for Mitt Romney.

And the majority voted against him. He lost.

Nice personal attack you threw in there again. Can you resist, or no?

What happened in West Virginia was as far a cry from democracy as I’ve seen. A complete and total sham.

You should get some lawyers together and sue.

What, you expect him to support his number one rival? What are you people smoking, anyway? This is just politics, played the usual way, to win.

My aren’t we feeling benevolent today.

If I was a Republican in WV I’d be working to change the way we awarded delegates today.

How quirky.

“If that is how the Republican party chooses their candidate or awards delegates then that is their right.”

What is this garbage supposed to mean? Nothing.

“If they feel they were slighted, they should work to change it.”

I take it you whole-heartedly endorse what happened and think it’s great that a public votes for one candidate by a margin of 8% and that candidate loses the election. Or that you’re granting your post was absolutely pointless.

Your argument is either and endorsement of the events of today or it’s a flat statement that you have very little interest in preserving the essense of democracy and couldn’t care less—let someone else worry about it. There is no worming about it.

Wrong. Read up the thread.

I’m very glad today I live in AZ where the Republican party in my states awards most of its delegates by majority votes.

I can live with deal making, it’s the whole pretense that they are not in league I find dishonest. Come out and be honest with the voters about what your deal is and if they still want to support you (Huck( knowing it’s a proxy vote for McCain, then so be it.

Especially for a man running under the banner of “good Christian”

I do not withold my statement about the abject poverty of honor in anyone who condones what happened today.
