"Great, I’ve met him, and he could do some good..Notwithstanding the number of people here on FR that would (and have) trash him in a heartbeat..."

I've met him too. He was my Representative when I lived in Georgia. Having said, that most of what you call "trashing" is based on his past personal life which is pretty indefensible. He would never get the nomination as a presidential candidate but he could do us WORLDS of good running the RNC!

Newt loves to think “outside the box” and be the creative tactician-Field General.

The post we are discussing is not the place for those characteristics. The original approaches we need from the rising leadership that morphs to candidates, not from an RNC chair telling them what to think.

This post calls for the fellow that can get people working together through leverage and application of personal warmth and personality. Newt’s time as Speaker showed that was not his forte.

Perfect post for a Romney type.

How about no Newt and no Rove. They both have sold out and want to be on TV telling us what wrong with the party. If they cared they would have already jumped in to fix the problems.

Both can be advisor's but not Over the RNC.

We need somebody at the RNC like the Dems Rahm with a take no prisoner attitude.

Not sure we got one.
