R U NUTS?

Remember how he sucked up to Nancy P on global warming. the environment and the outlawing of incandescent light bulbs?

He's a carnival barker, nothing more.

For all of Newt's flaws (and I've never been a fan of his), I must acknowledge that when the Republican Party seemed to be relegated to permanent minority status after the 1992 election (sound familiar folks) he was a tremendous asset to the GOP in terms of leadership, vision, setting a policy agenda, etc. In retrospect, his optimism -- no, his absolute certainty -- that the Republican Party would see a historic resurgence in 1994 was one of the most remarkable stories in national politics in my lifetime.

I wouldn't worry too much about how a person in his capacity buys into some kind of nonsense like global warming, the environment, etc. What you usually find is that in their post-Congress career, someone like this ends up getting hired by an industry advocacy group specifically to help them push an agenda in Washington.

You and others really should stop casting stones at anyone who doesn’t adhere to 100% of the conservative position 100% of the time and attempting to throw them out of the conservative movement. Coalitions are built, not torn down, and unless you want to be lost in a tiny little group of people who think exactly like you and have absolutely no political clout whatsoever, you might get used to the idea that sometimes you’ll have disagreements with people who are on the same team as you.

And LIKE IT OR NOT, Newt is one of the more articulate & intelligent architects of the movement (that’s alive right now). This would be the perfect position for him.

I can’t find anything to indicate that Newt supported banning incandescents. The entire premise of his book is free market solutions to the (granted, completely non-existent) “climate crisis”.

Read what he’s actually saying. He’s making the case that any problem — real or imagined — can and will be solved better and more effectively by the free market. He’s also calling for more honest scientific study of climate change, which I suspect he knows will prove MMGW to be total bunk.

Honestly, if he was such a believer in the climate change lie, would he have really made “Drill Here, Drill Now” the centerpiece of his American Solutions project?

I think you guys need to give Newt another chance. He’s got a great mind, he communicates beautifully, he knows his history and he’s a tough Reaganite conservative who knows how to play the game. He foiled Billy Jeff’s plans for world domination two years into his reign, he can do the same thing to BHO. The RNC Chair is the perfect place for him, now is the perfect time.
