Bailouts Not Good for Free Speech

This year already we’ve heard calls for reintroduction of the Fairness Doctrine, and Internet censorship. Now, the first call for public funding for newspapers is here. Lining up behind GM and AIG, media outlets could join the many “distressed businesses” begging for government aid.

I for goodnass sakes! I warned of moral hazzard. But the chicken littles had way too much brown stuff in their shorts to listen.

My favorite was when certain states proposed a plan for a sales tax holiday with guaranteed reimbursement ("bail outs") from the fed for the lost revenue.

It would be interesting to compile the list of n'er-do-wells who have come knocking on the door.

The bail out was a bad idea in the beginning and it is now proven to be so.

What free speech? Rush at ESPN, Coulter at NBC, etc. There hasn’t been free speech now for years.

We’re not far away from a revolution in America. 3-10 years tops.
