Nonprofit Bailout included in Stimulus Package
Capital Research Center ^ | January 16, 2009 | Matthew Vadum

Left-of-center nonprofits are getting the bailout they wanted from the U.S. government, the Chronicle of Philanthropy reports. The news comes a month after Independent Sector president Diana Aviv demanded it.

Our lawmakers are intent on pissing away billions of dollars on utterly useless giveaways to their supporters in the liberal nonprofit establishment. The money will have virtually no positive impact on the economy, except perhaps that it might bolster employment at nonprofit groups.

One of the more egregious line items is the $1 billion allocation for community development block grants (CDBG). These are slush funds that liberal groups like La Raza and ACORN use to subsidize their operations.

The parasites have killed the host.
The industrial individuals can no longer carry this weight.

It’s amazing what Bush ushered in with his bailout. I was so wrong on that one.

I’ll be honest, we are being fleeced right now, but there are good organizations out there too. I don’t want folks to stop giving. I would like them to be a lot more discerning.

It would be funny if a non-profit organization dedicated to fighting for smaller government applied for a government bailout.

“One of the more egregious line items is the $1 billion allocation for community development block grants (CDBG).”

Don’t forget that line item on home loans that will go to ACORN ...

The taxpayers are going to have to become just as organized as the left in providing critical oversight to the distribution and expensing of these grants...

Some of the best charities may never see a penny from the government. We shouldn’t stop giving to them. It’s sad that we’re forced to fund some of the groups that are destroying our country while we must sacrifice to fund those who will better it. But we shouldn”t stop doing the latter because of the former

Push the fight to the supreme court. Then again, they wouldn’t even make Obama show his birth certificate (he didn’t, there would be no case if he did).

MY new criteria for charitable giving is very simple. I only give to charities that support struggling Republicans. If a charity gives any money to democrats, I just don’t give.

As it applies to politics, I would urge folks to donate directly to people they know and support. I would not give one cent to the Republican party these days. They’ll simply use it to support RINOs and block the advance of Conservatives you and I approve of.
