Parhump, Nevada: When Citizens Make A Stand For The Second Amendment, Politicians Back Off
Transsylvania Phoenix ^ | Transsylvania Phoenix

Posted on 02/01/2009 8:27:15 AM PST by ElKafir

It started when the Pahrump NV. Town Manager Bill Kohbarger placed on the town board meeting agenda a proposition banning guns from the city property. However, Pahrump residents caught wind of what Kohbarger and his leftist gun grabbing acolytes were scheming and by the time the board meeting started, scores of angry citizens were already packing the town hall.

What a bunch of Numb-Nuts. They’re right down the street from Front Sight, the nation’s premier defensive training organization. Guess they’re getting enough $$s from the welfare recipients who fill their third-rate casinos and don’t need the millions people spend every year in their town while training at Front Sight.

Yup, I live here in Pahrump and we take our gun rights very seriously. I could not make the meeting however MANY showed up and spoke up, the item however was dropped at the start of the meeting.

All this came up because an older gentleman dropped his carry gun at the end of the last meeting. He picked it up and was on his way.

This new town manager got himself in a world of trouble over this.. people are rather unhappy with him now to say the least.

Excellent post.

The federal government is facing the same reaction.

Wonder how much “backing off” those clowns would be doing if all those folks DIDN’T HAVE GUNS???

Back in the early 80s, I attended a speech by the late Arkady Shevchenko, then the highest ranking Soviet official to defect to the West. He had been their top guy at the UN.

He spoke, interestingly, at KENNESAW COLLEGE — and we all know what Kennesaw is famous for! I’m proud to have played a a small role in helping Mayor Darvin Purdy get that legislation through the Kennesaw City Council.

His talk dealt with the clear intent of the leadership of the old Soviet Union to somehow take America. He mentioned their ICBMs and the nuclear blackmail threat they posed.

Then he broke from his prepared remarks and offered the audience this wisdom:

“The leaders of my country are as AFRAID OF YOUR 200 MILLION PRIVATE FIREARMS as they are of your ICBMs. NEVER GIVE UP YOUR GUNS.”

Frankly — and, while he had to be careful as he was under FBI protection at the time, Shevchenko alluded to this in his remarks — I’m as concerned about some domestic tyrant (say, a Hillary, Barack HUSSEIN Obama or Chuck Schumer) as I am about some foreign enemy.

And it is THAT threat about which the Founding Fathers were concerned that prompted them to leave us the Second Amendment.

The BIG question is: WILL WE KEEP IT?

Shupp was not swayed in her determination to move to the next item. She told those in attendance that the gun ban was permanently removed from the agenda but they were invited to come back and comment at the next regularly scheduled meeting. She said, "We'll be here until midnight if everyone in the room takes a turn at the podium."

People shouted out they wanted to know why a gun ban was on the agenda in the first place, but no answer was forthcoming.

"You are not going to be re-elected madam," called out someone from the back of the hall.

Harley Kulkin addressed Shupp and the board, saying, "If you don't have time to listen to the people who elected you, you shouldn't run for public office."

In a brief interview after the lengthy meeting, Kohbarger, who bore most of the blame from those in attendance, said two residents asked him to put the gun ban on the agenda.

"They didn't show up to back me up on their own item, but I've got broad shoulders," he said.

Well, well, welcome to liberal land Harley. Your two anti-gun buddies were big old no-shows when the time came to stand and be counted. Absolutely shocking. I am stunned.

I think they were talking about the city board, not the citizens.

When we moved our company to Nevada in 2003 we visited Pahrump to see if it was a candidate. No internet hookup of the capacity we needed and so we ended up in Las Vegas.

Funny thing happened when we were in a local supermarket. Not once, but twice, we saw families doing their Saturday shopping and packing in the open. One fellow had the standard 1911 Colt and the other gentleman looked to be carrying a Super Blackhawk.

We decided that if it wasn’t for connectivity issues that was our kind of town.

I only know of Parhump because that is where the Martians land in the Movie ‘Mars attacks’, which I think does an excellent job of ridiculing the bleeding heart response to a threat. I watched it again after 9-11 Iraq etc and it would have been even more funny if it wasn’t so close to the truth about how liberals act.

IIRC Pahrump is basically run by the owner of all the brothels there.

Kind of like Boss Hog but sleazier.

The martians landing in Parhump said something about what the martians were after.

I hope everyone understands that. The people of this country own this country; not the Feds or states or politicians or POTUS, lawyers or anyone of the many agenda groups. It’s the taxpayers. And if you don’t understand; maybe you should consider finding another place to live.

Donald Cox asked the board who put the item on the agenda. Kohbarger simply said, "I did." "Then you need to resign or be fired," said Cox.

Is the town all out of tar and feathers?

Pahrump? Isn’t that the town that is closest to Ash Meadows (brothel)?
