I would live at the base that she will be assigned to. Makes commuting much easier.
SInce when do you get to choose which base you get orders to?
Ft. Richardson, Alaska
Go for the gold.
I have heard that both Ft Hood and Bragg have gang/crime probs.
What other choices? Fort Campbell is not so hot.
My pick might be Fort Carson in Colorado.
Depends on where you make your reservations. Make sure you get a 4 star base because they’re the only ones with room service.
The needs of the Army is the rule.
Fort Wainwright was my favorite.

If you can, go to Ft. George G. Meade.
First, Army has posts, not bases. Ft. Huachuca was really nice. I had my daughter there. It’s small and not much in town. Great if you like the outdoor stuff. Never seen so many humming birds in my life. Have to go to Tucson for shopping and fun. Ft. Sam, in San Antonio is nice, but I’m a little biased because it’s home, lol. Lots to do there, but too crowded for me now. I’m near Ft. Hood now and I like Killeen pretty well, and it’s close to home, and not too big. Germany, anywhere! Would go back in a second! Hawaii was wonderful too. Hubby was at Kunia, and we lived on Wheeler. Fun tour.
Fort Knox is the place to go. The streets are paved with gold doncha know. ;)
being from NJ..I am partial to FT DIX.
(Elvis was there in the 50’s)
I hear at Ft. Knox the streets are paved with gold.
A nurse (and her husband) should head for Walter Reed......
If you like Artic conditions try Fort Drum, NY.
I grew up an Army Brat, and I have a few favorites that are in my memories. Ft. Rucker (Mother Rucker) was my favorite post for feeling at home. There is not much to do in the area, but it is not too far from the Gulf Coast.
Ft. Benning is great if you live on post. Another favorite was Patrick Air Force Base in Florida, but it has now closed. The O Club was right on the beach....great memories of that.
There are lots of great posts....just learn to enjoy the area you are sent to for what it is. If you do not like it, remember, you will not live there forever, and every move will be an education. You'll be a better person for the experience.
Landstuhl.
The area is a little on the crowded side, but there is so much to do. The DODDS schools have fewer issues than most U.S. schools.
I’m AF, so I’ve always wanted to avoid being stationed anywhere with “Fort” in the name.
