The GOP Should Keep The DC Voucher Program Going

One of our correspondents sent a link to this post on the DC voucher program with a very brilliant idea:

if the Republican Party is serious about doing something to reach out to the black community by making a gesture on behalf of the 1,700 minority kids Obama has consigned to the worst public schools in America, they’d spearhead an effort to revive the DC voucher program using private funds. $15 million is not a tremendous amount of money to raise if RNC chair Michael Steele would throw his weight behind an effort to get it done, and I would suggest every GOP Senator and Congressman could use their fundraising prowess to fill the coffers of a private program replacing the one Obama killed to great effect.

There are 219 Republican members of Congress (House and Senate); raising $15 million if all of them were to get behind the program would require $68,000 or so from each. These guys do that in one dinner on a good night; and raising money for a private charity to fund a DC voucher program wouldn’t be restricted by campaign fundraising limits.

If raising the money could keep the program going, I think the GOP should do it. It’s for a very worth cause.

It is amazing that we can spend trillions of dollars on bad ideas and millions on ACORN which perpetrates voter fraud, but not one thin dime for minority children to get a better education.

The Government will never try to control private schools, especially when they’re providing “vouchers” to pay for tuition...

The dirty little secret is that Michelle doesn’t
want her little angels (and they are angels) coming
in contact with the DC black-trash using the vouchers.

Forget about government fund raising. Why not ask those that can afford it to privately sponsor one child regardless of skin color or income. Kids could apply for scholarhips. Keep the government out of it.

I hate to say it, but I think conservatives need to worm into the “education” business and co-opt it. It worked for the leftists, perhaps we can do it for the purpose of returning quality education to America. Get their kids the way they got ours.

Actually, they could do a lot by setting up a website to fund DC and show up the Stupid Libs/Progressives privately.

Doing things like this Governmentally is Stupid.

Originally all schools in America was Private. Now since the governments have, by-en-large, taken over - Stupidity reigns.

Well, your point is good. If the GOP does fundraising for this, is that the government doing it? I thought the government was Obama et al.

Things are all twisted up in education regarding government interference. I’d like to see a lot of things done differently.

This reasoning does point out the corruption of the Obama administration, with the things they choose to fund and the things they are cutting off.
